Hey, Atticus. What was your hourly wage over at FXCM up until 2013? Or, did FXCM have you on a work-from-home and spew-bull-crap on the internet commission plan? And, have you finally figured out the difference between European and American style options? You did not seem to know several years ago. Where are you these days - its been years and I kinda miss your style of idiocy, it was rather unique.

Hi DS,

I think several brokers do this with small accounts.

When I was reviewing brokers I opened small live accounts to test the brokers. Any time there was a "news" event, the platform would shut down shortly before the news & would stay off for up to 5-30 minutes. When the markets are moving fast, the broker will try to keep it's large customers happy. They don't want to deal with filling mini/micro orders so they just shut down small accounts. They're better off keeping 1 trader happy that trades 1 full lot rather than try to keep 10 traders happy that trade .10 lot. Losing 1-2 customers @ .10 lot is better than losing 1 customer @ 1 lot.

***BTW, "Jason" isn't always the same person. Just a "name" used to represent an assistant of the company.

This is exactly what DS is trying to show. All brokers do this and traders have grown to accept it. Look at all the poor souls trading at FXCM, Oanda and Forex.com. All the shit they do and get away with and people keep trading there. By the way, DS, I made the call, Dave wasn't available, I haven't received a return call as of yet. I'm all for a new option in the US. Until then, I will continue to trade with my "unregulated" offshore broker. At least I believe I am trading without dealer intervention as I've watch my trades come within.001 of stops and not get hit, I never experience frozen platforms or random price spikes found nowhere else. Benefit is, since the funds aren't protected with my "unregulated" broker, just as they aren't with a US "regulated" broker, I only have to keep a very small % of my actual trading capital compared to what I would in the US for margin requirements. I withdrawal every week or every other week and have it in my bank account within 2 business days. This is why my TE looks as if I trade with extremely high leverage, there is never more than 20% of my trading capital ever sitting at the broker.

I've run similar tests years ago and came up to the same conclusion, so I think you are right. However, I remember that there was a very short period of time when Oanda, had lightening quick execution, accurate fills and seems to plow through big news or reports like a knife through butter and no hiccups. I don't know what they are doing today, but that was a while ago when I witnessed their performance.

I've used LGC out of London before the black-out on US accounts and I've used DCFX out of New Zealand with a footprint state side in San Diego. Both were very good, but DCFX was very fast in its order execution and precise (tight) on the numbers. Never had any problems with either and liked them both. Unfortunately, the US government apparently hates FX Traders and for all practical purposes seems to favor a monopoly here in the United States given its regulatory disposition. So, those options are no longer available for US "residents."

Jason Rogers, always did seem a bit generic. However, I have not seen a major shift in writing style or written prose. My major concern is unethical behavior of FXCM in general and in specific, and what role "Jason Rogers" has played in violating the law. Atticus, cannot come up with FXCM customer names on his own, unless a) He's an employee of FXCM, or b) FXCM forwarded customer information to a third-party without consent, authority or authorization.

Either way, FXCM as screwed itself. Whenever "Jason Rogers," aka "Atticus," aka "FXCM" posts a link to a website containing Libelous content about a private individuals or individuals then "Jason Rogers," aka "Atticus," aka "FXCM have attached civil liability. Case summary in point. The fact that FXCM is a publicly traded company makes their Libelous behavior and actions all the more destructive for them as a company. And, if it is found out that Niv, actually new about what "Jason Rogers," aka "Atticus" did by engaging in Libelous activity online, or if Niv, himself initiated and/or sponsored such activities by his "employees" then that makes things ever more destructive for FXCM as a company.

Quite frankly, I don't see a good ending for FXCM this time around. This company is arrogant and foolish on many different levels and needs to be corrected and placed in severe check. We are going to find out what Niv, knew and when he knew it, soon enough now.

I would keep calling and keep leaving voice mail messages explaining your interest. I was not able to get through either, but he works in BD, so I am not surprised - he might be out traveling a lot. The Industry needs core change and The People, or in this case, The Traders can make that happen, if they just demand better.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being off-shore as long as it is done right - meaning by the book. Those "avenues" exist for a reason. Lawmakers create these "avenues" and their supporters use them all the time. Corporations use them all the time. The United States probably has several hundred billion sitting off-shore right now in foreign banks having depositors with names like Apple, Microsoft, AMD, etc.. We've all read those stories. Those companies go off-shore for tax reasons and their accounts are held by foreign banks. Yet, we don't hear anybody talking about how "risky" it is for them to allow their capital to be held by a foreign bank. However, the moment a Trader talks about going off-shore, suddenly the foreign bank police are on their way and the bank itself could implode any day now and run away with the Trader's money. Yet, Genentech does not have this same problem.

People hear "off-shore" and they have a panic attack. I think people should travel the world a bit more. They would realize that doing business in various places around the world is very common place. I love Singapore. It is a cool place to hang out. Singapore, has also rapidly grown into a financial hub for Asia in general, but it also connects Asia to Europe and the Middle East. As more liquidity pours into SG (and they have quite a bit today already), I can see its FX footprint growing right along with it. SG is also tax friendly, especially to business start-ups. So, opening up a new Proprietary Private Trading Firm or Company in SG, is not something I would consider shocking, obtuse or nefarious. Just good business sense - if it indeed makes sense to do so. SG also has a better regulator environment for new Trading Firms as well.

Bottom line, when you grow your accounts to a certain size and you want or need increase cost basis per trade and continued growth of capital is important, then a prime broker scenario is more than likely the next step ($500k min or so) on an institutional platform and in a taxing and regulatory jurisdiction that is "friendly" to sustaining and continuing such growth. That may be the United States, or it may be somewhere else. It really all depends on your goals, ambitions, how much capital you want to manage at the top end, how entrepreneurial you are, taxes/regulations, how you feel about possibly relocating or how you feel about frequent business travel, etc. As Individual Traders, we have 'some' different concerns that a full blown financial institution will not have - and rightfully so.

Anyway, its been a pleasure. I've got to get out of here and back to my new current Trading System development project. I've overstayed my visit for this year. I'll be back in 2017. Hopefully, there will have been some good changes in so-called "Retail Forex" and you guys here in the U.S. will have finally gotten that Exchange up and flourishing with Bucket Shops like FXSCAM out of business or on life support.

Until 2017.

We have such poor choices here in the US so most of my trading is with futures & equities now.

Dear FXCM,

this happened on your trading station some weeks ago on a demo account.

these are two chart of the exact same time of the GER30. One is in M5, the other in tick data. I edited the tick data in order to visualize the dashed line of the cursor but did not manipulate the screenshots in any further way. As some text is in german, I will translate for the community.

As you can see, the two screenshots show an excerpt of the 17th of August 2016 from 12:00:00 to 12:05:00 GMT. The M5 shows Ger30(Tief) [means low] 10535.85 (Bid price) of the 12:05:00 candle bar, hence from 12:00:00 to 12:05:00. During the same time, the tick data in the red circle shows the lowest tick bid price until 12:05:00. That is where my curser was pointing at with the dashed line. The orange bar at the right end shows the height of the cursor. The time where this is reach is at 12:00:25. And the lowest price is at 10539.42. How is this possible? The two charts should show the same information.

I also recognize that sometimes trading station creatres a new bar to early, sometimes to late. Even if there is no exact calculation of time by seconds, the variation is up to some 10 maybe 20 seconds and sometimes to early, sometimes to late. So inconsistant. Maybe the world is turning quicker or slower when some hedge funds enter the market.... ​


Earlier in this thread, I mentioned some divergence between M5 and H1 in the GER30. You corrected this divergence at the exact dates where they did occur. However, this divergence is still occuring.

Does the discrepancy between your 5-minute (m5) chart low and your tick (t1) chart low remain even after you log out and log bank into your demo account? I've asked our techs to determine possible causes, but they are having difficulty replicating this issue. I observed this only one time. Did not further investigation. Since it happened in August, the tick data is no longer available.

Quick question. Why is there a difference in volume between your MT4 platform and NinjaTrader? If they are connected to the same liquidity pools the volume should be the same across the board. NinjaTrader shows on average 3-4 times more volume, (and on a side note I assume your volume is being reported in Millions? as the numbers are small whole numbers).

As a preface: I am looking at MT4 through a demo account and comparing to both demo and live account through NinjaTrader.

The only assumptions I can come up with is that the MT4 (demo) is showing data for your Mini account holders which is internal order flow since this is dealing desk. NinjaTrader is showing liquidity for your Standard and Active Trader liquidity pool?

Simply trying to determine why there is a difference in volume between the two platforms. Thanks.
