I agree with you. Demo doesn't prepare for live trading. but I think if there wasn't demo accounts, most of the traders even wouldn't start this bussiness/hobby)

leverage does make very little difference, besides the lower the leverage the more realistic it gets.

so at some point of your trading success .. a 1:1 Leverage is somethings you want to have, not somethings you afraid to get

(winning percentage * average winning) - (losing percentage * average looser) - (cost of trading) == what matters to your wallet and the Revenue Dept. is interested in

I would just like to say it is very possible but is destined to fail, I opened a live account In Jan 2015 for EUR 500, by late March it was valued at EUR 15,000. I traded with no rules, no money management or risk. Eventually one day I had so many trades open and news came from the US which more or less wiped my account from 15,000 to 700. Alot of lessons learnt

Dont be sorry best lesson I ever learned. Without good risk and money management you are doomed to failure

I hadnt been trading long at all when I started that.

For the past year I have been trading demo, getting my whole strategy right before I go live

Figure 22 trading days per month (average) and taking 3 months in the summer off and they pull out some spending money, say a million every month should be enough to live in modest comfort.

Last week I made here 12%, actually I don’t have any particular weekly trading target! When I get good entry point in my live chart then I use it according to my plan on trading lot size! And today I just open my chart till now no new trade, having a specific trading target means extra pressure!

Basically weekly returns we the traders select according to our trading experience as well trading equity ,

as a scalper my weekly return 10 to 15 % of my account and easily I can obtain that .

LOL! You don't make an easy 10-15% a week. If starting with a $1,000 acct, compound 10% per week you would have $142,000 in one year. Go hide under a bridge Troll.

as much i hate the troll post from Ryan420 .. but there is some truth on it. if your gain is based on the equity you do have .. there is defently somethings not right.
unless you meant including positive equity in your risk calculations.

bottom line is however, 10% are doable with little sweat at a normal risk (1ish% a trade) ..
but on a yearly average this will be much less than that even if compounded.

Making double-digit returns a week is great but as the account grows, the risk-of-ruin & leverage use must decrease or its in risk of blowing up. The result of less risk is less reward so the profit factor will decrease as well. To the point where a serious $100,000 acct can make 1-2% a month ($1,000-$2,000) and never have to worry about a margin call.

To dream though, 3 years of 10%/week will take $1,000 to $2.8 Billion. That's why there aren't active posters from older than 2014.. LOL

haha okay i give you that one !! .. well said .. and sadly this is very likely true as well.

but about the leverage thing .. well i trade serval accounts .. totaling 75k .. and yes it is true .. the leverage does go down once you hit a certain amount.
but for management reasons its wise to split the money over serval brokers anyway .. so this problem is cut in half by that way already.

nobody is stupid enough to put all eggs into one basket... its just like being all-in on a trade.

if the broker goes down or the regulations do change .. you go down. with them.

the bottom line is ... i still risk my 1% per trade like i do with a 1000$ account
but there are defently issues .. as example .. try to fill 45 lots on a 6 pip scalp. with a shitty broker they will slip you 3 pip, calculate you 2 pips and take you out 1 pip before
making your trade a nice looser as the comissions are yet to be paid ..

most peoples do forget that fact(s) ...
but from experience its safe to say that with any respectable broker .. placing any order below 35 lots is pretty much manageable.

so with a 25k account .. you still good. but its sure start to get Jucy .. depening on the products you trading and the broker you use ..
some brokers may have heavy load on AUD pairs where others are well equiped on EU pairs ..
so that will get into the analytics as well ..

like Trader Dante said "the moment you can afford the Ferrari, you won't be able to drive it because you will be busy maintaining your edge !"
and this is very true .. with different volumes and strategies comes different issues you will have to deal with or the margin call will come for sure!

That exactly problem with slippage is used by large traders to move the market.

These traders can sell so much at a time that they take out buyers fast enough to move price down and in to an area of sell stops (under a swing low). Then when the sell orders trigger, theres enough sellers to cover their shorts AND for them to go long without slippage as retail books are still selling. This is where a retail broker's charts deviate (showing lower lows or higher highs) from an ECN's price chart.
