If you take a look at the chart up above UJ , see today's opening balance and initial range, it will be hard to break that on the down side today, however NFP has the potential to do so as its not a typical day. See yesterdays initial range similar to today's. market pushed down hard and could not breakthrough the initial range.

Hi Dennis, really good thread. I have two questions: which timezone are your charts cause my Pivots Points have total different values. I use London time to calculate them. How you use the Poc and the VA for your trading?

It actually stays there forever not until the end of the day or week or hour...because it represents history, you can't change it nor move it nor remove it. It represents a history mark only and nothing else, But you already know that right?

Yes we do own the Market most of the time, and for you to say its simple is an under statement on a massive subject that we are at the beginning of covering.

But your points are valid. Particularly when you say the future is based on the past! your damn right it is. So extremely good points you have raised. As what we are covering is how professional traders use Data from the past to anticipate the future. And use information they see right now at this moment to uderstand who is influencing the market and where they are targeting.

The easiest way to get the extended-session data values (high, low, and settlement) is to flip to a daily chart of the instrument you are trading. Most data providers and charting software automatically include extended-session data when presenting the daily bars. Just take the high, low, and close from the daily bar, and you'll have the inputs for the next day's pivots.

So for the Monthly pivots then pivot purists are using the close of last months bar to calculate the preceding months play by play. Same for the Weekly.

Most MT4 charting packages wont carry Time adjustable Floor pivot indicators, D, W, M as those are considered professional trading tools. Platforms like think or Swim or other advanced plat forms include Professional Floor trader tools such as Pivots and Market Profile.

Denis is quite right with the map thing. Try this experiment. Choose a direction based on what you see on the chart. Use some MA or something similarly useless, if that would help you. Stick to the direction. Open trades behind the back of the opening rate. Increase the trades size (slightly) of every next trade. Prepare for a DD. You will be amazed how you are going to be -50 pips in loss and still maintaining profits. Not to speak, if you have balls to hold for the direction to naturally continue, (balls is something I do not posses, yet). So, Dennis is quite right, but it is an expensive game when you have to stick to the direction... Btw this works in both ways. Trend and counter trend. At the very same time. Equally. The success lies in the trades volume and proper distribution. And balls. Lots of balls. (I am at the balls part now. this seems to be the hardest part of everything)...

If you dont over leverage you wont need balls. Money management will follow later on.

"If you know your fundamentals then you know time is on your side if you buy time by not over leveraging when your short term wrong but medium term right"

If you think the map thing is right (i.e works) your delusional... there is no such map I said otherwise you would own the market and the fact that you struggling to trade consistently for many years and make billions implies you can't see a map or anything of the kind perhaps you're wearing sunnies lol and all you are explaining is if you stay long enough in a market you might get lucky and have price come back to the side you wanted it to get to but that doesn't always happen. But you would know that if you were a successful trader?

Might I suggest you gather all the key points into the first several posts? As the thread grows, it will be very difficult to follow your train of thought across dozens of pages.
