$23.50....a 14% drop....damn, I shoulda strangled him. If CREE sp bounces a little to close the week, I could find a perfect calendar finish @ $25-$26....

Hey Bud, I've been busy. 'Grats on the new title. I've always thought traffic was kinda cool, at the pointy-head end where they do some interesting math modeling. Whenever I have any kind of revision to do, though, I just farm it out.

Trading has been sucky - epic low volatility. I am just hanging around with some dry powder in case things change.....they will, eventually.

We just farm everything out- no point in having a PE to be honest, not on the government side of things.

Same here- have everything lined up to buy equities if ever they should fall "if ever". Hopefully I wont be retired by then....you're in the Golden State aren't you? Hope those fires aren't near you

perfect fail for CSCO DC.....iv's were flat going in to the ER, but still fell after it, while the share price didn't move much......I can let it ride and have a 4$-wide strangle for next week, another turd waiting to stink...

I heard that. Something else blows: I had a spread mismatch go against me at E*Slobs this week. No margin call, but they were holding some $k's in margin and my bp was near nill. This was for some VXX calendars that were split and are now all worthless....I'm just letting them run to expire worthless. So I called in. First guy, I tried walking him thru all my valid margined trades. He did not know what a diagonal spread is. OK, let me get you to somebody in our derivatives dept......on hold 20 min....next guy, did not know what a diagonal spread is, but he did see the glitch on my VXX calendars, so he said he'd try to get it fixed by Monday. Meanwhile I was shut out of the account several days. This is a situation where their computer mis-matches legs of a spreads. So, if you have say VXX Sept/Oct $20, $23, $25 call calendars.....say a 10 lot, 8 lot and 12 lot....all put on at different times. Should be no margin required for calendars, right? Of course, but their computer grabs 8 @ $20 and matches it against 12 @ $25.....dings you for $4k margin.....Why? Duh....stoopid machines, people minding the shop don't even understand the basics of spreading.....fml....I should just find a different hobby....

Second time that has happened this year. Anyway, I filled the wide Oct UVXY calls fly shown just above, w/o the Kahuna vert.....for 33c.

I am counting on the Fed to talk it up at Jackson Hole....

If history repeats itself, then this would be the time to get bullish on VIX. But, history has not been proven this year. Sell and go away in May was non existent. As well as August has been bullish in comparison. Regardless, I'm putting my monopolies on the VIX bulls coming Monday.

the long vol dream never dies......just give yourself lotsa time, maybe long shares outright.....something will pop, some day.

The nice thing about supercheap call spreads with lots of time: if there is a vol spike, they will make money, the strikes are not that important. The wider, the better, both between strikes (in a fly, for instance) and in time.....you pay more for both, but you get what you pay for, generally.

Have not seen you in a while, pete - have you been trading? Boy, they really messed up the boards over on Yahoo, huh - I think I remember you from the UVXY board, no....?

Hey Fool. Yes I've been on the sidelines for a while, since this unrealistic over aged bull run had me feeling claustrophobic. The Yahoo message board is a mess and hard on the eyes (not sure what they were thinking when they made the change).

Made plenty after Brexit but lost it all the week after, when volatility when the opposite direction. Got lucky with CSIQ / BABA and now MRO. Holding long spreads for NVDA and TMUS. New favorite UNP. Been waiting to jump in VIX and after you posted that article; I'm going swimming and hopefully not against the current this time.

This is way overdue and should happen soon. If not, then I will be a supporter of Trump.

I'm also looking at VIAB for a short term bullish play. August options expired and peak front open interest sits in at the Sept 45 Call. Abundance of calls overhead should accelerate short term resistance in the $45 area.

Another one I'm looking at: EMR. Several downgrades and price cut target to $44.
