On the left you can see the laptop I use for trading, it's pretty obsolete, but it does the job.

My money Factory​

I run two 27" Apple Thunderbolt Displays bridged with a single 27" iMac. Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse 2 are paired with it. For sound, a Paradigm 2:1 system is connected. Ambient lights surround the desk also. A very nice and easy set up especially running a windows 10 parallel for MT4.

I used to have a desktop and 4 side-by-side 22 inch monitors, and a 2nd laptop with a 24 inch, but I am done with small monitors forever!

A few months back, I upgraded to two side-by-side 48 inch Samsung 4K flat TV's, UN48JU640DF. (Same area and resolution as 8 24-inch HD monitors). Costco used to sell them around $600 each. Fyi, it's important to navigate the Samsung HDMI TV settings to find the "Edit Device Type" and set it to "PC", otherwise the visual clarity sucks, but if set right, it's great. I only get 30 FPS for my 4K connections though Samsung says that 60 Hz is possible (for HDMI-1 only). For my purposes, it's fine. Newer and more expensive TV's might get 60 FPS (as a monitor) but I don't need it.

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite S55t-C with quad-core i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.6Ghz, 16G RAM, Windows 10, x64. Touchscreen 15.6 inch HD display. Regular 1T disk, but I may upgrade to a faster SSD instead. The HDMI port drives one 4K monitor. Close to $1000, nothing fancy, but new enough to handle a 4K monitor. I preferred the quad-core over the newer dual-core CPU's. Each MT4 I run takes up a CPU, and dual-core just didn't seem good enough to me. The fan runs a little too much, and slightly noisy, as this laptop runs a little hot. I may set it on a cooling fan base or maybe just elevate it for more air.

I used to think that any laptop needed two monitor ports to drive two monitors, or else use a multi-port docking station, but I found another solution. My 2nd 4K monitor is driven by a Plugable brand USB3-to-4K_HDMI. Works fine for MT4; too slow for video but I use the laptop HDMI for video whenever needed.

By the way, I experimented with a 55 inch curved 4K, but I wear glasses and it was too tall by just a few inches. I felt I was tilting my head up too often. The 48 is perfect for me, and flat is acceptable though curved might be better, but not at ~twice the price. I can comfortably fit two of them side-by-side. My desk is 24x72, and they both fit because I don't mind one of them extending about a foot left of the desk top. However, because 24 inch is not deep at all, I would be too close but for an adjustable keyboard and mouse tray. My eyes end up ~40 inches from the screen surface directly in front of me, and I angle the right monitor for a more straight-on viewing angle from my seat. Curved might help, but the base for a curved TV is also a lot bigger and would be in the way of where I put my laptops.

The only drawback to using TV's instead of true monitors is they don't wake up when you move the mouse. When they shut-off because of inactivity, I keep the TV remote handy and use it a lot.

I have a 2nd laptop that I connect both monitors to as well, and I use the TV remote to change the "source" (e.g. HDMI-1 to HDMI-2, etc.). I also have an Amazon FireStick, and a digital TV antenna for regular TV watching.

To switch the keyboard between the two laptops, I have a dual-USB switch. It swaps the keyboard from one PC to the other at a simple press of a button... or I can open up either laptop and use the native keyboards as needed.

Logitech G510 programmable keyboard. I also use a G13 programmable gamepad.

My internet is Comcast/Xfinity. I get around 118M download but only 6M upload. Sometimes I think the latency is bad, which I've heard is common for cable internet where bandwidth is shared with your neighborhood, especially at night when everyone watches on-demand TV, but I've not proven it. I suppose I could upgrade to a more expensive category (e.g. business class, or ??). No reason to for now.

A Costco UPS keeps everything running through the occasional power glitches.

I really like my setup and it was under $2400; far less than my previous desktop and multi-monitor setup years ago.

Yesterday (sunday, 17july2016), i bought a 2-in-1 tablet notebook (oBook 10 dualOS) to replace my old desktop computer : the old desktop computer recently runs slower and slower (do not know why) although i am still using it at this moment.

after reading the above posts, i think i needs to buy some peripheral USB and wireless equipments (e.g. USB-to-HDMI and wireless mouse) (i already used USB-to-LAN for internet connection).

as i did not spend time on the everything about computer last 8 years (concentrated on forex trading), i will need to learn everything about it.
the notebook computer's original screen is too small so that a larger-degree-value reading glasses is needed as well (will buy after this week's forex trading.).

when i tried to buy a wireless mouse, a shop-assistance of the computer accessories shop told me bluetooth mouse and bluetooth keyboard is the trend (wi-fi one is no more good now). so i bought a cheap bluetooth mouse costs me hk$99 only (bluetooth 3.0 : not 4.0 : not most updated standard as microsoft one for windows 10, is too expensive). uses 2 pieces of AAA alkaline batteries, it said can use for six months : it seems impossible..

still not decide to buy a bluetooth keyboard yet, as not find any key-design-pattern standard is good yet (still can use on-screen keyboard at this moment.).

now also connect directly from notebook's micro HDMI socket to tv's normal HDMI socket but not sure need bluetooth speaker-set or not (bluetooth sound-bar) (but the tv-volume now seems ok for me).

maybe take this week to figure out what further devices & cables i need to buy (need to keep this replacement for my desktop computer simple and workable for my daily-usage : especially is cheap).

2. use the keyboard's normal-size USB2.0 socket : try to reduce the hardware problem chance of using display panel's micro USB3.0 Socket.
although this would increase the amount of power consumption.)

(2) 2 pieces bamboo-made insulation mats
underneath the ADSL modem for avoiding overheating and separating for avoiding direct heat conduction to the shelf.
(located lower deck with USB3.0 4-Ports hub and USB-to-LAN device).
(also use for cool-down all the unplugged power adapters.)

the notebook computer is connecting with 4 cables only:
1. mains power adapter,
2. micro HDMI to TV,
3. micro USB3.0 to normal USB female socket (only use for USB3.0 drives at this moment),
4. normal USB2.0 to the USB3.0 hub.

the notebook computer display panel is switched off and then TV screen left to be on only with my normal desktop computer's resolution.
