Forex Market Hours GMT v2.3 - LATEST VERSION
(Always check through to end of thread for latest version. You can search each thread page by "Forex Market Hours GMT".)
NEW: Previous versions were Winter only.
This now has four modes:
Winter (standard time),
Summer (DST),
Winter mode that matches Forex Factory's Sessions chart, and
Summer mode that matches Forex Factory's Sessions chart.
The Forex Factory / Oanda.com difference is only in the Sydney session.
Study the notes in the Inputs section of Properties, this will tell you how to set the mode easily.
Sessions are local 8 AM - 5 PM, except Tokyo 9-6 which seems to be a standard, and except Sydney in FF mode.
Some sessions will be inaccurate for the weeks between US DST change and Sydney DST change. This would take a LOT of coding to make automatic, which I will likely not do in my free time.
Winter:
Summer:
All moved except Tokyo.
Forex Factory uses Oanda's session chart.
"OANDA is sourced primarily because they're the only major broker to publish such data, and their listed session times are the generally accepted view."
-FF User Guide
They keep Sydney opening right at the end of New York. However this means they are showing the Australian session starting at 7 AM in Summer, 9 AM Winter, Sydney time. There may be a good trading reason for this. If someone can give me a really good, valid reason why this is so, I will appreciate it. Although I wrote to Twee at FF and to Oanda, and they both replied (thank you), they did not tell me why. One theory: it keeps some traders online if there is no apparent sessions gap.
Matching the FF sessions display as to relative start and end times, looks like this:
Summer - FF
Winter - FF
Notes: This indicator looks very good on a Hi-Def class monitor, such as 1920x1080. It looks less good on a lower resolution monitor, but still usable. I have not tried it on a 4K class monitor.
