Wrong. You need to have the Mt4Api EA attached to a chart and MT4 open.

Sorry...l had it on the chart finally...Probaby the reason why connection works the second time...
Did put it after having reinstalled MTApi Setup and l forgot to change my post...

Have you tried installing VC ++ as per this post. Should not be needed.

Having exhausted all other options at this stage, I would suggest you install a free Amazon VPS as it definitely does work on the VPS . The problem in going into your PC with Teamviewer or similar is that you are using a different language. All I can say is that it definitely works with Win 10 with an English installation. I also have it working with a Win7 installation. The VPS used a Win Server 2012 installation.

If anybody else has a suggestion could you please post your thoughts.

As far as I am aware, only yourself and Hajdi have installation problems.

Yes l have tried but a message come up saying l have a more recent version than 2010 already installed ( actually l have 2013)
That lets me with the vps option only unless someone come out with something new to try...
Will keep you posted when l will get vps working

Hello Dave,

Is there a way i can have a condition base on daily open? E.g BUY when a H1 candle closes as BULLISH above the day's OPEN PRICE and SELL when there's first BEARISH candle closed below the day's OPEN PRICE.

I have tried doing it but couldn't find a way with the daily open price.

You cannot reference 2 different timeframes within 1 condition but you could make a custom indicator do that. Use the example indicator Bull and Bears within this thread to build your own conditions and instead of referencing Close[] use iClose() which allow you to reference any timeframe.

Google "iClose mql4" for the syntax.

Here is a hint for Buy signal - iClose("EURUSD",60,1) > iOpen("EURUSD",60,1) && iClose("EURUSD",60,1) > iOpen("EURUSD",1440,1)

Hi Dave

I have tested latest file you sent to Ben and I am getting same message on both my computers. I have attached both Picture of the error message and details in txt format. One pc is running Windows 8.1 pro and other one is running windows 8.1. I have also tried VC++ but are getting same message that I have more recent version running.
One intresting thing I have tried to press continue button on error message and then go to multicharts. When I refresh Connection you can see it running all data for fx pairs but there is no Picture. And is loosing Contact after few minutes and then I can refresh it manualy again and its updating, but there is no Pictures.

Question is if you are are intressted to arange some remote session on my pc and you do your thing as my system is in English?

Enclosed is a test run on Agility Trader Version 2.

Just click on the Backtest button (bottom right) and the data will be sourced externally. An RSI strategy is preloaded. At this stage only EURUSD is available.

The Mt4Api connection is not required for backtesting.

I have tried it and got a Little bit different error code this time both Picture and details of error are attached. I get that error code as soon as I press then big green button "Backtest".

Sorry my mistake. Can you try the download again. It has been updated. I left out TA-Lib-Core.dll

Do the EAs created in this way or any EA work on non-time based charts such as renko or range bars to open and close trades?

No. I have in the past catered for these charts but the demand is simply not worth the extra time involved.

This another example for Agility Trader V2. All 14 pairs and 7 timeframes are now available. The default setting in this example is PSAR. Just press Backtest to see the result.

Try changing values and charts to see the effect. In particular, try changing the Wager Increase Multiple between 1.0 and 2.0. Data source is Dukascopy tick data converted to all timeframes.

There are ongoing changes to coding so these results are examples only and the next 4 weeks will be the optimization and testing phase.

Hi Dave..marvellous job right there with 2.0..just a quick query and possible suggestion for future versions, that is, if not already implemented...would you consider introducing Maximum Adverse Excursion(MAE),Maximum Favourable Excursion(MFE),Sortino or Sharpe Ratio to enable deeper portfolio analysis with regard to users viewing their overall trading systems risk management and robustness in both backtests and forward trading?..many thanks

Whilst I appreciate your enthusiasm, Sortino or Sharpe ratios are not very relevant to this type of trading. You no doubt realize that I recommend that any forex investment strategy be reviewed on a monthly basis because of the dynamics of the forex market, therefore the metrics of forex investment performance particularly against other asset classes does little for meaningful analysis.

Maximum adverse and favourable excursion are also graphically illustrated (the charts are zero based by design for this reason and will include the top 5 performances) and maximum drawdown provides sufficient information for these short term trading decisions and whilst I acknowledge this information being important for portfolio analysis, the dynamic nature of the forex market tends to invalidate this information.

The single click backtest reviews only the last 3 months of tick data however the custom backtest will you to review any nominated period of time. I never recommend drawing on data more than 3 months in the past for forex decisions.
