Alan the price of $189 is way above my league, unfortunately. My question though is ....

Can I purchase and use the .set files with the current version 7? Thanks in advance.

Hi Mike

You will be able to do that. I just tested if .set files with extra settings are affected with any issues and there was no complaints from MT4 so I should be able to sort this out for you.

I compiled the three codes and adding buttons, i didn't test thoroughly so you can check out for bugs.

Automated MT5 Version Now Available - Works just like MT4 Version - Fully compatible with MT5 Hedging

MetaTrader 5 now has a hedging capability. This means you can have Buy and Sell orders open at the same time on the same currency pair.
I think it's only available in Beta at the moment. But once released, Brokers will be able to offer MT5 with Hedging and AmazingEA will be ready !

Hi everyone I am new to FF. I have been reading several forum threads and am quite intrigued with the idea of straddle trading. I have been working on the concept myself and trying to teach myself MQL5 language. I noticed that most are focused on the quick grab at news events with a straddle bid (with one-cancels-the-other after the buy stop or sell stop is triggered).

Why not have an EA that is always "in market" with either an active order that has been triggered, or a straddle bid in play that traps any good market moves? I have observed many times price movement that is very good, that did not occur at High or Moderate news events. If we only trade those, we are missing out on many opportunities to grab some pips.

Some of the ideas I've had on this are:

Place Straddle bid with a timer, creating a time trap for fast price movements

- If timer expires without an order executed, cancel pending orders, and reset at the new current price (filters out slow prices action). This creates a self adjusting pending straddle bid, that moves away from slow moving price, but if price moves more quickly and hits a pending order in the allotted time, then It would represent a valid trade opportunity.

- We would need to play with the settings to find the right buy stop and sell stop distances in pips, and timer settings to come up with the best numbers to use for ideal sensitivity to price movement.

- If executes, use SL, SP and Trail Stop to manage trade

- Challenges depending on chart time, slippage, spread, commissions etc...

Although I'm committed to learning to program the metatrader language, I would like to get to work on this EA concept so I have asked a programmer for a price quote to write this code for me to get started.

I have only seen straddle trading EAs that trade news. What do you all see as challenges (with solutions please, on how to make this workable)? I think the idea of a self adjusting straddle bid (based on timer) is an interesting and novel approach to making a straddle bid EA capable of "always being in the market." Thanks in advance for any contributions on this idea.

Hi Tremors

Without getting into the detail of your ideas just yet, I wanted to point out that AmazingEA has various options available for Breakout Trading. For a start, you can use the CTCBN feature to set a Straddle around a group of candles, not just the current price. But this does currently have to be centred around a specific time. So people use this for London open or similar.

Secondly, after news events, I've noticed that there are often situations where the market should be moving in a particular direction based on the news but actually goes the other way after a few minutes. I love these because if the market is doing that despite the news, it is a strong signal and one which can give you an edge if you realise it That is why I added a new setting recently called STOCO so if you use OCO=false, the opposite order will stick around for STOCO seconds (usually 3600). If it triggers, you may have been stopped out or hit break even on the News candle but you will make a lot more back on the Reversal.

Examples of these last week were the AUD CPI on 27th July and the CAD Retail Sales on the 22nd July, both of which reversed but not suddenly. I have found that if the reversal doesn't happen within an hour it's not a strong enough signal.
