Just one of the criteria to check position sizing:

If I can't sleep fine or still think about my trades when off the computer, it means my positions are oversized or my trading system is not fine...

Sort of.

The issue is that you have to be able to care about your cash. If you don't care about it, you are at liberty to throw it away. This can have a negative impact on your profit!

During the week I decided to take a breather because of the polluting environment being created on certain threads by some FF members who see the community as a place to vent their repressions or suppressed aggression on others. They insult, abuse and violently attack others who see things differently from them. So, I took time to check a few other FX forums and decided to register with one (I won't name it). The point is that the atmosphere there is highly welcoming and refreshing, just as it should be in FF. It is the kind of atmosphere I want to see on threads I visit or operate. The lesson for me doing this is: just remain focused and never be distracted by the crowd. This has lifted my outlook on trading and inspired me to maintain my approach as a member of FF: learning and sharing with humility and respect. Green pips to you all.

Hi KeenPips;

I stay away from anything distracting and negative, as you do, you will find those venting their ego are the ones struggling to Trade.

This is usually down to not being able to accept any short coming on their part and hence the need to take it out on others.

Once they can accept their short comings and acknowledge they don't know everything their Trading would improve dramatically.

There's nothing like a dose of humble pie to straighten anyone out.

Thanks, Steve. When I joined FF in December 2015, TRD was one of the first three threads I subscribed to and I still have two of your quotes. Lol

A guy that I get training from talks about that you need to watch the amount of negativity you expose yourself to, and to look at all sources of the negativity. Because it will imprint on your self image and you will start to think that it is ' like you ' to be negative

There is probably a lot in that idea. :-)

How you respond to words written in a post is a great way to assess your emotional state. After all, they are just words from a stranger. It is your response that you need to take heed of, as the button's pushed to create an emotive response on your behalf gives great clues about possible emotional weaknesses you need to take note of such as 'ego', the need to belong, the desire for popular approval, past negative experiences..... etc etc etc.

If you can step back for a moment and identify why the emotional response was triggered it can give you amazing insight into your thoughts, beliefs and ultimate behavioral responses and provide clues to how you can possibly override your thoughts through 'critical thinking' to assist your trading.

Only the other day I was about to flame throw on this forum....but fortunately I stepped back and performed the self-assessment recognising that my response was triggered by previous encounters with my old school bully. The words of the post simply reinforced and resurrected that experience and suddenly I realised that my emotional response was not their fault, but mine. In that process I identified incoherent thought and was able to make the emotional trauma vanish in an instant......which otherwise would not have been the case and the flame throwing would have not assisted my cause.

So if you view things in this light, rather than avoiding those personally confronting threads it actually pays to participate in those threads from time to time for a bit of good ol' self assessment ...if that makes any sense.
