I suppose it gets down to individual risk tolerance - and the diversification does nullify some of the exposure. But do you any thoughts on the number concurrent trades one should prudently run with. ​I personally would need some confirmation by way of trades on a Demo account to commit 14% overall on any set of live trades.

Hi Ben,

Following on from previous comments. I believe you need two conditions for what you are trying to do. Example for buy of what is needed.

First condition is: 13 period RSI is greater than 50
Second condition is: 10 period SMA crosses above the 30 period SMA

That way you will get a trigger when the 10 period SMA crosses above the 30 period SMA and the 13 day RSI is greater than 50.

Just re-work what you want on this basis and I think you will be on the right track.

Thanks for your help...Let me explain what l am trying to implement...l am having good result with manual trading kind of TMS H4 found here at FF...
But l missed a lot of good entries not being in front of the computer...Automating( if feasible) it should be great...
Then TMS works with TDI works with RSI 13 as a price line...Trade signal and market baseline are SMA 7 and 34...
Now you see where l try to go...
That was just a try...It is difficult to find a strategy that works...and when you have it...automated it is the next chalenge...unfortunately l have zero knowledge from coding...

Hi Dave,
​I did some testing based on EMA crossing. EURUSD and USDJPY did quite nice (backtest 1.2.2016 - 4.5.2016). I optimized Stoploss, BreakEven and TakeProfit for low drawdown. The optimized setfiles are attached.

I then tried a backtest with gold, using the AGT_EURUSD_H1_EMA.set. Shortly after starting the backtest in visuel mode I got errors 130 and 131. The the first couple of trades were made normaly but after that no more trades were made during the backtest.

Could this be related to the number of digits (6 for FX pairs, 7 for gold)?

​I will address this issue over the weekend. You are correct in that it is a point value consideration.

Some clarification on history and future direction.

The original concept was the thread, Traders Gift where the idea of a generic EA was floated. Associated with this EA was the VB.net based program to backtest and optimize.

Out of that, Agility Trader was conceived with more options including multi-time frame, support and resistance and a companion VB.net based program to help navigate through the 364 inputs. About 3 or 4 weeks ago, the first dashboard was published which provided Buy or Sell signal monitoring. Unfortunately, I had to use a third party graphical user interface to achieve the result. This imposed performance limitations and marketing by the third party provider and started causing some unexplained conflicts within the program so the idea was dropped.

Then came Agility Heatmap, which has probably been the most significant breakthrough in that MT4 is no longer the development platform and I was able to break free from the constraints of MT4, particularly in the input area. Agility Heatmap and Agility Trader will eventually morph together in that the vast capabilities of AT will be incorporated in AH. For the time being AT will remain as being MT4 based and AH will progressively upgraded with extra features including trailing stop loss, web links, news event monitoring, watchlists and a basic form of strategy testing. High on the agenda for both platforms is the ability to backtest and optimize with a vastly improved interface (V1 was incorporated into Traders Gift). The data used will optionally web based or local data with the ability to read all formats.

What I intend to achieve, is optimization speeds around 10 times faster than MT4. You already know my thoughts on technical indicators v's money management and I will demonstrate how to balance the concepts. This brings me to the point of this post. I intend to use the higher time frames for optimization. MT4 has always been predicated on the most reliable results coming from tick data but for optimization purposes, this is out of the question. As long as Stop Loss is considered on any time bar before any consideration to profit achievement, a fail proof methodology is achieved. I do look forward to any development ideas because we are now in really exciting times and I can see FX trading growing exponentially because of the gearing levels available. As subscribers to Forex Factory, you already have a head start because this is a collection of thinkers many of whom have been there and done that.

​Thank you for your reply to Ben. You were spot on.

RSI will never cross SMA because they are completely unrelated. Ben, you may need to PM me and explain your request, because RSI is based on a value being between 1 and 100 and SMA is based on having a value similar to a currency value such as 0.85634 or 1.15634 (or on JPY 115.634)

​Yes. That is exactly the purpose of the companion program.

Even if the set file is created from MT4, the companion program will read the inputs and give you a much more logical indication of the structure. Of course, the whole complicated set of inputs takes on a different perpective when created by the companion program.

I will be moving to a single screen presentation for the inputs in the companion program as enclosed below rather than the present 6 tabs as those tabs will become home for the extra features I am adding. Now is the time to make that decision because all the future upgrades are included however in the future the offer will be different.

​You have placed the 2 indicators, User Indicator and User Indicator_BullsandBears in to the Experts directory when they should be in the Indicators directory and AgilityTrader.ex4 file is not present in the Experts directory at all.

Please review the documentation included in the zip file for installation instructions.

Is it possible to compile your programs on Mac too , I know that i have to buy a new window based computer ,to be able to use many programs there for trading ,but i thought that there may be lot of people having same problem .

If you need to run any windows based program on a Mac, there are a number of competant programs in the marketplace including Parallels which is a Windows emulator for the Mac.

By the way the input parameter for custom indicator only accept integer value, if i am right, one of my numbers is a multiplier ,which may have decimal number, is there any way, I can do that?

​I came across this problem the other day myself. There are a few instances where I have added exceptions in the manual such as with ATR and PSAR where decimal points are needed so I have made a change to the manual and the program which will affect anybody using a custom indicator with the latest update which I will issue today (also addressing the Point value in pairs which are not FX)

Encl:

User Indicators

The name of the user indicator must exactly correspond to the name found in the Indicators directory.

It is important to nominate the positions of any numerical user inputs which may affect the calculations of the indicator. An allowance is made for up to 3 user inputs. These inputs must reside in the first 7 user inputs for the indicator. If they reside beyond of the first 7, there are 2 options available which require you to edit the indicator.

1. Move any non-relevant inputs such as colour values further down in the list of inputs
2. Change any non-relevant user input values such as colour to ordinary input by removing the extern declaration

When nominating the user inputs as Strategy parameters, they are nominated in the Params1 to 3.
NOTE Because the input only allows for whole numbers, nominate the multiple as * 10. That is 46 = 4.6

This an update to allow for decimal point values
