Ben I did reload the data again as in Post #278 and the graph is much the same as yours and "PayItForward"

PS If you grab the title bar of the tester and drag it into the main window or even drag outside MT4, you will get a much better view which you can resize.

I did another few times, same settings and got 5542.75 with 0 errors everytime ?

think my chart is the same I just have my resolution hi here it is lower

Hi Dave
We are ok then? l did it again...same graph but no error this time...
Will try testing all included preset for practicing EDIT: Was not able to make it work with other presets...Will wait before experiment further...
If l understand, it is the same exercise for other currencies based of those data:http://www.forextester.com/data/datasources
Am l right?

Ben, the chart you are displaying is the price Chart. You need to show the Equity Graph on the Tester window. Don't forget you can detach the Tester window by dragging the title bar of that window.

Those data sources you refer to, will work, but on import, you are importing all data since 2001 and only the last 3 months data is required. At any rate, for any other currency pairs you will have to repeat the procedures for the other time frames as well. If you do want all that data, you will also have to change Tools, Options, Charts, Max Bars in History.

Just remember for the purpose of the exercise next week, we only need the last 3 months of EURUSD. I would prefer not to have to repeat the procedure for each log in, of having to delete and re-import history data, so I repeat my request for clean data from any demo server if anybody can establish that. You can easily compile 3 months of 1 min data from most servers by pressing PgUp key on a 1 min chart but the problem lies in after updating the other time periods and performing an every tick backtest on an hourly chart, there is always mismatched chart errors.

Here is a better link to download just the data you require. https://www.dukascopy.com/swiss/engl...ch/historical/. Select 1min, GMT, & volume in millions.
You will need a utility to strip weekend data and I have included my own small program (needs to be unzipped)

The point is at the moment, until we find clean data from a server, when you login to the demo server and run the test, you will get the mismatched data errors.

This is the procedure as it stands at the moment, every time you log on to this demo account.

  1. Goto Tools, Server and change the account number by 1. This will log you off.
  2. Goto File, Open Data Folder and navigate to the \History folder of the Server (now disconnected)
  3. Delete all the EURUSD history
  4. Navigate to the \Tester\Hstory folder
  5. Delete all the EURUSD history
  6. Goto Tools, History Center and select EURUSD 1 min. (may need to double click EURUSD)
  7. ​Goto Click on Import and select the downloaded EURUSD 1min data.
  8. Open a EURUSD 1 min chart and right click and select Refresh
  9. Drag the script - PeriodConverter onto the chart and change the input 3 to 5 and OK
  10. Repeat the step above for 15, 30, 60, 240, 1440 all on the same 1 min chart

Hi Dave

According to what I have read, would like a confirmation from you as you have far more knowledgeable, when we use PeriodConverter all the Pairs PeriodConverter data must be reloaded if we shut down MT4?
To avoid this we should save each pairs data as a separate profile
or
instead of using PeriodConverter we use "P4L PeriodCon 509" see attached and all the data is saved?

You have raised the issue that I would like to discuss with Metaquotes because I believe that this is a bug in the MT4 program.

The issue is every time we load imported data, and we log in to a server, no matter what the imported data is, on first test and subsequent tests that time everything is OK. Log in for a second time and the data mismatched errors reappear.

Hi Dave

l am not sure if it is what l am experiencing here with EU...but l am not able anymore to replicate those original result l had with EU same as l retry following step by steps over and over...seems to have worked only once...If next week we need to go back to EU...l am screwed...

Then l did the same process (for the first time) with AU and it works...l won't try any other test this time...

​Ben, You also need to delete Tester\History\EURUSD60_0.fxt to fix your problem.

If you backtest just once while logged in, this file is updated and then the mismatched data errors occur. No matter what you do after that, you will always get the data mismatch errors until you delete this file.

I have amended the procedure above to include deleting the \Tester\History data as a precautionary measure.

Have deleted it several time...Never performed a backtest online...Only offline as you stated...

Went online only to check if MT4 was still working... Then technically file wasn't updated...
But l still having the issue...
Fault is probably on my side...but... cannot see where...Sorry for that...Will try again later

​My advice would be to remove the AgilityTraderMT4 directory completely, remove the hidden directory completely and recreate the AgilityTraderMT4 directory. The hidden directory will be automatically recreated the first time you run terminal.exe.

The moment you log into MT4, any imported data is overidden by the most current data from the server. Normally 1 minute data goes back about 2 months only. In order to get 3 months of 1 minute data, an import must be performed.

The nett effect is that you must initially log in or you will not get the ability to deal in 2 decimal point lots however your imported data at that point gets mixed with data from the server hence the mismatched data errors. This is resolved by changing the account number whilst logged in which automatically logs you off the server but still retains the capability of 2 decimal point wagers. At that point you need to restore your imported data using the procedure outlined in Post #289.

Hi everyone um Dave have you every seen this one found in FF just checking it out shows trades made by Ea and you can make templates for visuals ....It actually shows the rsi and other indies on the visual after you finish testing so you get good picture of how your setups really look ?

​Here is a procedure I developed by trial and error which seems to work to eliminate the mismatched chart errors.

  1. Start MT4 normally.
  2. Make sure your Max bars in chart are taken out to 100,000 in Tools, Options, Charts
  3. delete \History data and \Tester\History for required pair(s)
  4. delete all data for the relevant pair in Tools, History Center
  5. import the 1 min data
  6. select the relevant 1 min chart and right click and select Refresh. (the refresh may take up to a minute)
  7. run the period converter for 5, 15, 30, 60, 240, 1440 timeframes (drag each time onto 1 min chart - will be prompted to stop the current instance - OK)
  8. after all conversions are complete, change the timeframe from 1 min to each of the other timeframes and right click and select Refresh
  9. select any other currency pair before closing down MT4
  10. close down MT4
  11. restart MT4

This should permanently remove mismatched chart errors and you will be able to log onto the demo server normally and perform backtesting without any errors. Not sure what the solution was, but the refresh on the chart of each timeframe and the close down on a non relevant currency pair chart seemed to be the key issues. As a precaution, I would suggest closing down MT4 on a non relevant currency pair always when performing this backtesting on the last 3 months data.

​Appreciate your input however it is only a manual buy and sell simulator not an expert advisor simulator.
