hi guy's I'm going over my last month I have made 52 deals with 37 winning and 15 losing the problem is the winning one's are avg0.5% of the account and the losing one's are avg 0.75% of the account does anyone have some advice on the setup of a deal. the pest post about coming in between 6.00-9.00GMT is great advice.(I know mouth's not over yet but a slow day)

I would add that this belief must be supported by statistical data (facts), otherwise you'll end up blowing your 200th account...

That's Ok. I LOVE it when people who are losing money in forex trading call the traders who are making money compulsive gamblers. LOL That just gives us even less incentive to share anything about what we are doing that's working. Their loss. Since we are all compulsive gamblers so there is nothing to see.

Btw, did anybody profit from Yellen's speech yesterday? Was a good run!

I talked about hedging some posts ago didn't I? But this guy is way ahead - Never lose a trade!!

BTW - I'm not endorsing his strategy using renko - tried it before - doesn't work IMHO but the hedging strategies are brilliant

There's no way I'll watch a 2 hours video about... hedging ?

jmtini you disappoint me. Hedging is useless, there's no point in hedging a position other than paying the spread.

That's a typical response when most of the people on these boards hears something new!

Why? Explain why you say it doesn't work?

Have a look at the chart below. A trade opened too late in the move upwards yesterday would have been caught out. Hedging the trade below say a 20 pip zone (as shaded) would have negated any loss. So why do you say it doesn't work? You see, that's why he uses Renko because you obviously would not employ this strategy in a ranging market! If you did, absolutely, it won't work.

I disagree and maybe if you spent a bit of time watching the video above you might learn something! A lot of experienced traders use hedging techniques very successfully. Hedging is a just a weapon one can use at certain times and in certain situations. I probably won't be adopting the guy's hedging strategy in the video above. But please don't insult people's intelligence by saying that hedging in general doesn't work. That's why this thread started - people keeps getting their stop losses hit and blowing their accounts. Maybe if they employed some clever trading strategies like hedging they would still be in the game!

LOL, ..... that video still pops up around here... Good luck with that. The only thing I remember about that vid is the audience. Maybe I'm too f-in cynical but they look like the same people I see waiting on the lotto line in my local newspaper store.

Hedging works but you got to know what you are doing.

This guy is just marketing his $20,000 EA.

Fxstaton... Do you have a post, or a description of your trading system(s)?
I would enjoy the opportunity to see how you've been looking at the markets...

I personally believe, for anyone trading the fx, their soul-goal should be to capitalize on compound interest (e.g. accruing 5% weekly, monthly, etc)...
Other than this, I put down fx in 2011, but found that trading seemed to want to "wear me," as opposed to me obsessing over
a great reward. So, daily, I listen for it merging with everything, even the creative endeavors, I'm involved in. I'm a regular viewer of Bloomberg, and others... trying to put on multiple perspectives of the of the markets. Most recently, I've been breaking into ETFs. Which, for me, is the next phase of compound interest.

I'm not a fan of hedging that much, what I do is called stop and reverse, if I expect a price to go up and I enter in a trade, I'll have my SL and TP in play, but if I noticed the price may reverse and I'll be stopped out and after further analysis I notice a change in sentiment and market direction, I'll place a sell order where my SL was and take the ride back down, most of the time it works well.

Only once I actually hedged a position, I was long on GBP/CAD and up +300 pips and moved my SL to +150 pips, then I noticed resistance and fib levels that were hit, so I expect a drop of about 150 pips, then I shorted at market, got around 100 pips on the sell side, closed and price went up again, then I finally closed my long position with +450 pips, total of +600 pips on the long and short side. But to be honest, this type of trade is not for everyone, if you don't enter at the right time and don't control your emotions, you screw up everything.

Here is an example of a hedging that works, it's highlighted in yellow, these are not my trades, they're from a managed company that uses a robot, I particularly don't like it, but it works for them. It's not my trading style.

HeyYou, you are ABSOLUTELY WRONG on how hedging can be in use in trading. There are MANY WAYS one can hedge. Most of them are really profitable. More or less.

I do feel pity about guys making statements about hedging, including some Forex enthusiasts, like numb/dumb-cakes (or croissants?!?). HeyYou, you might want to think like six thousand times BEFORE making such super dumb statements.

FYI, like you, i am also not going to watch this 2h video...

Anyhow, if you quit you are one less source of income for brokers and peddlers ... so, don't quit, ok ? (;

About the video in post #908: it's been around YouTube for a few years now. In the version that I originally watched, near the end of the presentation one spectator pointed out a flaw in Mr Nemeth's system, drawing the latter into a brief debate which made Mr Nemeth look foolish, and causing the audience to titter with laughter. The video was then suitably edited and re-posted.

When any system guarantees a 100% win rate, that's when I ensure that my due diligence (what's this?, for example) is at its sharpest and most uncompromising. Especially if someone has discovered a "secret" that all of the millions of traders before him -- including the world's smartest PhDs and veteran fund managers -- have somehow overlooked. And then he's selling his guaranteed zero-loss system, publicly, for less than a 7 digit amount.......


About same-pair hedging: I believe HeyYou (post #909) is pretty much right, and have posted my reasons many times, e.g. in the links here and here. Every sequence of same-pair-hedge transactions can always be replicated pip for pip, at every point along the way, by a single net position.
