I need a Straddle Script (not EA)

Due to a broker freezing the price, price does not get updated for several seconds; sometimes, Straddle EA will not execute as there is no price ticks coming.

The way to solve this was to enable the Straddle EA 1-2 minutes earlier risking premature spikes along the way.

SO I thought, why not a script instead? ie, when I attach the script to a pair, it will immediately put a BUY and SELL order asap.

How can I do it? Can anyone do it for me please?
I've been using Banac's EA as a script instead. Works like a charm. You can get it in the other thread.

And as I mentioned, EA executes only when you receive price ticks/updates. What if you dont receive price ticks on a regular basis as what is happening over at North Finance? Price updates come in burst. You may find a particular price idle for a whole minute even if it is moving on other brokers.

This means, if I have that Straddle EA to execute on 8:30:00AM, it will most definitely NOT execute as the price may come in at 8:30:30 and prices would have dramatically surged passed it so that entry order prices are rendered invalid.

I have missed 2 winning trades because of this. I'd rather have a script place 2 entry orders at a click than to wait for price updates to arrive.

Just copy and paste your EA code into a new script file and compile it. Then drop the script file onto the pair when needed.

Change the Sell and Buy variables to string and check for string. I struggled with the bool too sometime back.

Just copy Banac's EA into the script folder. When you compile it and run it, it will behave like a script. I've been using it as a script since day 1 and it works great!
I have been following the Straddle EA and Amazing EA threads with the same thoughts you had, BurgerKing. I need to "anchor" my buy&sell trades , with a 6 to 10 pip stop loss and a trailing stop, immediately before a news event to lock in my price; otherwise, there is too much movement and I lose my true edge. And, although Straddle and Amazing are both - amazing - this is precidely what I have been looking for!

But not being a programmer, I am not certain what to do with BK's script. I copied it off and saved it into a txt file in the scripts folder. So my elementary questions are: what extension do I give the file and how do I compile it and then run it? After it is complied, and I "attach" it to a chart, what will I see and how will I activate the script at exactly the right time?
Just Trade.
Use the same extension that the file currently has. Compile the script file the same exact way you do as an EA. Everything is exactly the same as an EA except the location. Since it is in the script folder, it will run one time and exit. You will then have to manually set the trailing stop loss or have an EA that handles trailing stops.


When do you runt the script? I usually execute my script about 1 minute before the announcement. But you can wait as long as you like before you run it. But YOU have to keep the correct time and YOU have to manually kick it off.

Script or EA isn't really the issue.

You can set up either to loop until a specific time, fire off a pair of pending orders, and then exit. Granted, the EA will have to have an initial tick, but just to kickstart the while(!isStopped()) loop.

Here's what I'd do...
1. Upon startup, check server time against local time to determine the offset to the nearest second.
2. Enter a waiting loop until 'x' seconds prior to some event, taking server/local time variance into account.
3. Place the orders and exit.

Edit:
Now that I think about it, wouldn't you want the script to continue to monitor the trades and kill one if the other were filled?
