Market Panel Clock v2.1

I realized it was treating EVERY time zone as a potential trading session.
I disabled all color changes except: Sydney, Tokyo, Berlin, London, New York.

Post 97 still applies.

Forex Market Hours GMT Winter v1.8 - Bug fix and Display tweaked!

1. Fixed Minor Bug - clock position was wrong after 22:00.

2. Tweaked the graphics. As this uses typed characters for graphics, it might vary with your computer, graphics card, or monitor.
I set the colored session bars to stop at the closest position possible to the close times, which is usually just before or just after the close hour, on MY system. If you get results much different than what you see here, can you send me a screenshot?
If there are problems for some users I will have to revert to the earlier colored bar lengths.

3. Made the Time Bar Color user-settable. Yellow for the picture.

Session times (Winter now) are from ForexFactory's Session timer on the home page, or http://www.forexmarkethours.com/

Earlier posts especially 94 and 100 still apply.

Market Panel Clock v2.1 - PROBLEM
SORRY guys and gals.
I am building here upon a "pretty good" but imperfect clock.
I was hoping for more feedback as it takes a lot of observations to spot the problems.
I observed last night that it did not end the Tokyo session at the right hour. Sydney has a problem too.

I found a possible solution for that, and to automatically set Sydney times, from traderathome, who also built upon the Market Panel Clock.
I am testing it.

I just finished running it for 24 hours, debugging it, and re-running it for 24 hours. It is ready.
Tokyo and Sydney are now accurate too, at least now, in February, and in theory, at all times.

I also have a better "Forex Market Hours GMT Winter" ready to go. (v1.8 is usable, but v1.9 is tighter.)

There has been well over 100 downloads between the two session indicators recently - which I am glad to see - but only one thank you that I recall.
I wonder... am I wasting my time posting these??

How many of you read what I write?

Did you notice I did not yet post the latest, most accurate versions of these two session indicators?

(What is accurate? Let's start with Basics: Do the indicator sessions start and stop when they are supposed to? When I started working on these two, that was not true. Possibly they were good in the Summer: I don't know.) Market Panel Clock (White)v2.2 is definitely more accurate than Market Panel Clock (White)v2.1.

Biggest change is we coded some loops so the code is about 87% shorter.

Remember it will need a Summer version, later this year. I hope to make a version with both Winter and Summer, that is switchable.

Tokyo and Sydney are now working right, at this time, in Winter.

Changed Berlin to Frankfurt.
Other enhancements covered in posts above.

Use "Market Panel Clock (White)v2.2"

Maybe I should have emphasized again that Market Panel Clock (White)v2.1 has a serious flaw or two. It is corrected in v2.2, last post.
I am hoping it is correct now through all DST changes: I will watch it this Spring.

I've just found another version of the Sessions indy. In the screenshot, I've set the Asian session color to Green, European to Red, American to DodgerBlue. Setting parameter Background = false causes it to draw UNFILLED boxes. Make sure that you check MT4 menu option 'Charts.... ForegroundChart....' to ON, so that the boxes are drawn 'behind' the price candles. If you press F8, and check 'Show object descriptions' to ON (in the Common tab), the pip range (session high to low) shows just above each box. {file} {image}
I set it up and unfortunately it slowed mt4 to a crawl. Had to delete it,

Sydney became wrong this week after US DST. That is why I am monitoring it.
I have tweaked the code, but I am reluctant to release it until after the next two (London and Sydney) DST changes, through April 3.
Make sure to check back after April 3 for a version that is hopefully accurate all year round.

Daylight Savings Times are confusing for even the best programmers. I have not found any program or website that gets it 100% right. That is why I decided to take my best shot and then watch the results.

There are a lot of bugs in programming that you can only catch by looking, "Does it do what it is supposed to do?" Even ONE wrong instance means a bug, or conflict, or an error in what one assumed (you correctly coded the wrong thing). Sometimes it is in MetaTrader, and maybe you need to reapply the indicator or template - especially if you were offline and then logged in again.


Here is what I found this week:

http://www.forexmarkethours.com/ has, for starters, London and New York five hours apart this week, instead of four.

Note: Sydney has not changed times yet.

http://forex.timezoneconverter.com/?timezone=GMT&refresh=5 when set to GMT has Sydney starting at 9:00 GMT, but it should still be 10:00 PM / 22:00. And Tokyo is ALWAYS 12 AM / 00:00 to 8:00 or 9:00 GMT. They have it at 11 PM / 23:00.

Even ForexFactory's Session Timer is off this week re the Sydney session, I just sent a detailed write-up to our fearless Moderator.

My basic reference is to use the local times for 8-5, checked against this: http://www.worldtimezone.com/index24.php

I may have more observations after the DST changes finish in April.

very nice thread. I like that "new approach" of Market Panel Clock

any way to disable the background? I choose "none" but it will switch to black automaticly
