Just to share an epiphany which i had afew days ago, about the 3 kingdoms, currently, we are seeing eurusd and the gbpusd having a divergence. the daily on the eurusd is congestive at best, while the gbpusd is strongly trending down. which has been a strong change in correlation from a strongly correlated pair to a uncorrelated pair. usdjpy has been tearing strongly too, and trending down strongly. This may either mean that the USD is not as trendy or pretty neutral or it could mean that there are fundamentals from eur and gbp which are strongly driving these divergence from correlation. What this does indicate is that there may be a economic or political change (in the case of the eur gbp case, it might be the brexit), aka the fundamentals.

Well, we already know this from the 3 kingdoms presented here, but how does this help us in the future? We could extend this thinking process to other currency pairs. How we can derive possible correlations can be from political ( eur and gbp being in the eurozone), event based (china's money going into europe to escape the bear market), or trade partners (http://dfat.gov.au/trade/resources/t...s/default.aspx china and aus is highly correlated), or economical (interest rate hike). It is all these factors which contribute to the flow of money, which in turn contribute to the change in prices. To confirm these correlations, we can use the charts to see when the correlations go in sync and out of sync. This in itself sets up for bond investments and equities investments as well as large corps doing business in other countries to affect currency exchange prices in those countries.

This is one way to understand the global macro overview of the forex markets. This kind of analysis may be what gann and jesse livermore are performing, which alludes to them being global macro traders who employ both the fundamentals and technicals to identify accumulation and distribution to trade the long swings and go on market campaigns, primarily because they mentioned general conditions a little too many times for it to be a coincidence.

Hello fti and all. I am currently 220 pages into this thread and wanted to express my gratitude to you fti for sharing all of this. I don't know that I will ever make it in this endeavor, but I feel like I now have a true shot.

I had a question. I remember very early in the thread I believe you said that in tier 1 prices are only quoted to 5 places and there is no such thing as tenths of pip. I wonder if when going to retail and now seeing these" pipettes" did you find any value in seeing their gyration? Or would you call that small of movements just distracting noise?

hi NoDak,

first, is not quoted to 5 decimals places. is quoted to only 4 decimal places for eur/usd or gbp/usd.
second, if you have a gushing river, what do you think is important to observe? the direction of the big strong waves or the little spashes on the surface? "flow"

Thanks for your reply. I was asking because I wanted to remove the display of the pippettes from my quotes to hopefully increase clarity. I do believe the strong waves are more important

I don't entirely subscribe to the "fallacy" idea. There are signals in charts that big funds actually use and having observed oil and fx futures books there appears to be more liquidity at levels "signaled" by correctly done analysis. These levels create either minor/major obstacles. Only quite rare events would see price moving easily through them. How much/reliably one can bank on using these levels really depends on how much one knows about trading and technical/sentimental context involved when price moves there. (Why sentimental and not fundamental : fundamentals form sentiment and that turns into action but when fundamentals are hard to understand, you only have sentiment to work with)

Thus when you see moves in markets, most of these moves are preprogrammed well in advance, the code is shared amongst the Investment Banks and lucky Hedge Funds who provide good business to the Investment Banks in the form of solid fees and long standing relationships. This is part of the reason financial markets are so highly correlated between all the different and diverging asset classes.
