This is the part where you go wrong. I never said, nor for that matter anyone in this thread said, that every day trader will make a steady "insert number of pips" per period. No one said that! I, we, the rest said that you can make a monthly living day trading. Do you know what a day trading means even? Well it does not mean that you have to trade every single day! You trade when the right conditions appear and you hold/trade until the end of the day. You don't hold positions overnight, you are flat, squared, call it whatever you want at the end of the day.

And on January, 5th if you couldn't make those 10-30 pips, as Cindyxxx pointed out, on EURUSD or GBPUSD or even USDJPY which was choppy for that day then you need to study more or go find a job where you work for someone else like a good little slave.

Heck, even today you could have made money on GBPUSD.

Hmm, the more someone challenges the notion that markets are predictable and conform to the expectations of retail traders the more insecure you seem to become.

I dont see the point of saying anything more, you will just keep accusing me of being a Mingary.

Not at all. Instead, it seems like you are continuing a conversation that nobody was even having. Nonetheless you've injected your topic into the thread and away it goes. The US in general is against any form of "gambling" and they see retail forex as a form of gambling which for some is true but for others its an asset class in terms of an investment whether it be a hedge against international exposure.

Im not really concerned about the US for retail forex as its being dying a slow death for years whereas in Asia its booming.

Japan has its own set of rules and the volumes havent declined.

China is starting to "relax" some operational controls but with good governance I see China and its neighbours entering into the FX arena in a big way once these are in place.

The future isnt dead for retail traders infact its going to get bigger.

Some time ago someone here was offering 50,000 usd to any one who you show a forex profit after a year. No one took the challenge.
Making consistent profits in Forex is a lot like the weather, many talk about it, but no one does anything about it.

==>Hedge funds do not build their business thanks to some secret "trading edge", but on their ability to attract OPM (other people's money) on a regular basis. They have to show a little positive return and an enormous amount of marketing and PR to rake in those millions until they have to close shop either due to losses or fraud.
It makes no difference if it's some bucket shop in Cyprus trying to sell its signal system for 200 usd to a sheep herder in Bengladesh or Paul tudor Jones trying to get a 100 million investment from some millionaire on long Island.

==>Banks don't take risks. This is grossly simplified, but their business model for "trading" is deal based. 500 million in usd to exchange to yen fall on their lap, they will use all the tricks in the book to milk it for all it's worth. As a "service" to the customer, of course.

Also, the forex - more than any other financial markets - does attracts the lower life forms of humanity - just as gambling would.
