Too early to say I'm buying anywhere, but I'm watching the $36 - $35 level closely.

Here we go, the smaller players are really getting squeezed.

From a recent operations update:
Despite Circle's low cost operations, trading remains very challenging due to a further weakening of global oil prices, varying production levels in NW Gemsa and the impact of macro events on payments from EGPC. As a result, and in conjunction with both the RBL extension and the December 2015 redetermination, discussions are ongoing regarding the borrowing base of the RBL facility under which $57.5 million is currently drawn. Following the redetermination the Company expect the borrowing base to be reduced and as a result there will be a moderate shortfall, although both parties are actively engaged in constructive dialogue to find a solution.

In light of the above, Circle is considering a number of options including a debt restructuring and/or an equity raise to right-size the balance sheet and ensure that the Company has sufficient cash flows to fund operations. The Board is working towards implementing any such transaction(s) by the end of the first quarter of 2016.

Oil is not even close to getting replaced by 'alternative energy' you cant even compare the markets! Maybe for avg joe consumer, but the major user of oil and shipping companies and airlines, Still a ton of power plants that use some kind of natural carbon burning resource to generator power are NO WHERE near anything that relies on anything but good ole oil. It will be at least 20 years IMO before they get even close to replacing the power of oil. This move big decrease is just the big hand NWO elite showing who is boss.

Already there are solar powered boats, the Portsmouth Harbour Ferry Company operates....

I accept that there are some powerful reasons to keep using oil, and I acknowledge that road haulage and aircraft will be the last dominoes to fall.

However, I believe the process has started.....

I think nuclear will be first. Must easier to get on board and more efficient. What I don't think right now anyway is in regard to solar energy is how to store the energy when not using it? Batteries? How are you going to create enough energy from solar panels and 9999999 batteries somewhere? I think maybe the invertors could be re invented a bit to make more efficient but nuclear looks more reliable and efficient to me. But airlines, even the electric powered trains use diesel instead of pure electric despite having a electric motor. I dunno

I saw similar stuff at the exhibition in Taiwan and China for less recently. Technology is not quite there yet because you need a huge ass roof for all those solar panels. I bet they will have this perfected within a year or two.

Thanks Gno, that's one of the products to which I was referring. There is also a German (?) company which makes equipment to store energy using flywheels supported in magnetic bearings. Magnetic bearings for low-loss.

@ Rtm, submarines have had batteries for years so the concept is really quite old. What has changed is the technology. Expect anything, assume nothing. There are buses running on Hydrogen in some cities. Toyota has recently stated that it is prepared to give free access to patents concerning hydrogen fuel cell technology to auto makers who wish to employ that technology.

Nuclear, only in military craft or fixed electricity generation. Maybe also space vehicles. There are too many security and health risks surrounding any other usage.

Any changes will be slow, but they will come. Exciting times!

The incident energy from the Sun is about 1kW per square metre. Assuming a 25% conversion efficiency you would need 4 1-square-metre panels and a day's daylight to recharge a 7kWhr storage system. That is not particularly huge although you might want to use 6 or 8 panels if you want to actually use the building/system during the day.

Maybe 25% efficiency is being generous, I don't know....

25% is generous, normal Mono-Si panel has efficiency "up-to" 17%, and efficiency is affected by temperature and humidity etc.

Also the sunlight intensity changes with weather and time of day, so to charge 7kwr storage system, you need more than 4 panels, I would say even 10 is optimistic.

I read today here in Asia that China will be buying from Iran and signing new contracts with Iran. This means Saudi lost out on some sales to China and more oil is coming on to market out of Saudi Arabia so I reckon we dip again to around $35

My cousin owns a property in California. The property is a mixed use property with 2 residential units on it and a small business on it. The monthly electric bill is about $3000 which is a lot due to coolers running in deli. We looked into getting a solar system but t would require way too many solar panels.

I am new in oil and gas but for me it's good instrument for starting with smaller long positions. For long term. It couldn't be cheaper than 0.;-) World changes every day. Nobody knows what will be in next year.

Like I said, maybe for residential units this makes sense but still not applicable to the major power users. How you going to power JFK, Pearson, downtown city core with that? This is for home backup, not all the time use or anything of large scale.
