I suspect some one is cheating in the competition.

Upgrading the platform in the midst of the competition???

They should have gotten their act together before the competition.....Esp when you are suppose to be one of the more branded companies....... with more resources............

Sheesh .... I think I am better off focusing on my real trading........

Hi phongvu12 , thank you for your kind words. I just try my best........... Conditions are harsh in Hong Kong especially when I am a foreigner with no social welfare to fall back on , if I didnt' invest my time in learning forex ........ I would have ended up as a McRefugee.

I thank God for his day by day provision.

I am not native blueseashorse. I am from Singapore , married a Hong Kong wife. Well I think there shouldn't be any problem for you as you are a professional engineer from your profile...........


All you have to do is the ability to pay the rent.... In my ex-company I knew of China guys with a salary around 10k to 12k hkd and paying 6k rent in Hung Hom......

Its also because I am not native .... Lousy spoken and listening cantonese ..... Either I find a job in an international firm or a higher managerial post like my previous Hong Kong firm .... If not its quite impossible for me to survive........ Hence..... thankfully 10 years ago in my exchange program in HKU , I had foresight to to pick up trading................. If not I would have been financially crucified in this country...........

By the way, from the stats I gathered from my Grad friends..... they are still around 20k to 40k hkd salary after working 5-7 years...... So if you don't have anything specialized or if you are not smart in climbing ladders/bootlick/sleepwiththeboss .... hard to get higher salary.....

i have heard renting and food are quite expensive there.
maybe get a high salary job would be easier.
but full time trading.. you must be quite a good professional trader to get a comfortable living in hongkong

Ha ..... Like I said I try my best and let God do the rest................... Honestly , I am not a fantastic trader....... but I learnt quite abit in managing self employed people.............. You need to manage your cashflow properly and manage it like a business.......... not as an employee........which revenue is not = to salary

Typically , I was finding my 'grail' for the first 4-5 years , 5th-7th made 240% ~~ odd , 8th - 9th year repeated the same process but this time in a shorter time frame (like 6th to 8 months ) before leaving my previous company. Thats all I have to say about what has happen so far. If you are wondering why there is no average return , I can roughly calculate the sum of my entire revenue plus I 'lost/invested' almost equals to net zero since the beginning.

I think from a personal point of view , you might want to bench-mark your personal results against the market structure (trend - retracement opportunities / or range opportunities (I am sure most traders here don't earn by being a market-maker) ) rather than against someone's else performance. This is because every one has a different level of risk / psychological make-up and even style of play as I observed some forumers are basket traders whacking 5 to 10 pairs at one go.... and some making 600% plus in one month and giving back all to market at the end ....

On the ('disheartening nett zero' after so many years), then what makes me so sure about things...... ? The market has a predictable structure after a while. There is a retracement to be found in every trend......... and even if its not .... then ........ move on to another pair. I am in the 'cashflow' biz , growth is just a bonus. If it comes , thanks to God. If it doesn't , then I will just continue my own 'salary'. And in a worst case scenario of another "SNB catastrophe" , find a job and start again. Trading is nothing more but a revenue generating function in my life , not all my life.

Even in a real business or startup , the only reason why your company grew 10000% was some one injecting funds or even your products went viral , I am pretty sure you will be normalized by competition.
Oanda's Top Trader dashboard still down ..... wonder if my demo profits are even legit now............
