I figured I will post my trading journal. I think a lot of people on this site are too focused on scalping. Been there, done that, have the blown accounts to prove it. I have been trading stocks and futures since 2002. I just became a full time this year and this is my first go at forex. I like it, lots of pairs and works good for my trading style. I have a short term (2-3 day), mid term (5-10 day), and long term (several weeks) strategy that I use. I don't make a lot of trades and only look for prime setups, so this might be a boring thread for most. I am much more interested in getting rich than having my broker get rich off me. I am very busy so I will only post trades at the end of the week.

8/31/15 - Long GBPAUD 2.25 lots - trade was a break even trade, got taken out shortly after 6:00pm

9/3/15 - Short GBPUSD 2.25 lots - trade was going good but was taken out by the US employment reports. It a shame, would have been a decent trade

Good Luck my friend.

I will look in with interest.

In my opinion a few quality trades a month is better than lots of poor trades.

Keep posting
Thank You James16, Fijitrader, Mbqb1, ghous, Pinbar and Jarroo. cpfleger

Thank you Seabreeze

Well not happy with this week. I didn't trade Monday. Had a few marginal trade setups but they didn't get to the entry that I like, although one did go for some good money which would at least have put me in the black. Looking forward to next week.

9/9/15 - Short NZDUSD 1.25 lots - this was a mid term trade, while I though the pullback had gone as far as it could, it went a little further then I anticipated. Trade was a full stop out.

9/10/15 - Long EURAUD 2.00 lots - this was a short term trade. Entry was OK, but my get out trigger occurred shortly after so I exited and watched soon after for the trade to pan out.

A boring week. Not much action. Due to the aggressive trend of the market I will most likely not have any long term setups anytime soon. They will most likely be all mid and short term.

9/17/15 - Long AUDUSD - Very short term trade, trade was basically a break even trade. I considered getting in again an hour later but with the FOMC meeting I stayed out.

9/18/15 - Short USDMXN - Short term trade, took a gamble and was hoping for more downtrend, but it didn't happen.

9/18/15 - Long AUDJPY - Short term trade, found a small opportunity to enter trade at a discount. It was not my ideal setup but the price was right. Trade was even.

No winners yet this month, but they will come, just a matter of time.

Was an average week. Better then last week.

9/22/15 – Short EURJPY - Short term trade, was a good entry, got clipped shortly after entry, but trade was even.

9/22/15 – Short AUDCAD – Short term trade, was a good entry, just barely got clipped for small loss, would not have worked out anyway.

9/23/15 – Long EURUSD – Short term trade, was a good entry, just barely got clipped, trade panned out

9/23/15 – Long EURUSD – Midterm trade, good entry, had an limit order at 1.13000 but only got to 1.12959, so exited after the run was done for some profit.

9/25/15 – Long EURUSD – Short term trade, OK entry, but was a good risk to reward, trade was an even trade.

Don't want to be invading your thread but I see some interesting entries that I think would benefit from taking a big picture view of the chart; which will help take the 'hope it goes my way' out of the equation.

9/18/15 - Short USDMXN - Short term trade, took a gamble and was hoping for more downtrend, but it didn't happen.

Selling into a round number (16500) is a gamble and never a good idea. Also, (a classic case of) selling into a rising market.
I can post a screenshot with some pointers. Or tell me to mind my own business.

I seem to have the knack of bringing threads to a grinding halt. Please continue. I won't post again.

Ignored
No grinding halt, I have been super busy with other things but I will not tell anybody to mind their own business as everybody is entitled to an opinion. As far as your post, I believe all trades are gambles. Nobody knows where it is going to go in the next 10 minutes, let alone the next few days. Round numbers, odd numbers, I have never put much stock into that. I do however base my trading on several months to years of hand back testing, although I have not had a stellar performance since starting this thread. Screen shots are a dime a dozen, as I could post screen shots of what would most likely not work the majority of the time but find instances where it does and declare it a winning strategy. And last but not least I would never take advice from somebody on a trading forum. (No offense to you) I will try to get caught on posting trades by the end of next week, but I will warn you it has not been a fairy tale as I have missed a couple of good opportunities and made a few mistakes, but this is a marathon, not a sprint.

9/28/15 – Long AUDNZD - Short term trade, was a good entry, but I was on the wrong side of the market, should have passed on trade

9/29/15 – Long AUDCAD – Short term trade, was a good entry, tried to get more upswing, but the momentum stopped

9/30/15 – Long AUDNZD – Short term trade, again was on the wrong side of the market again, should have passed

9/30/15 – Long EURGBP – Short term trade, was looking for an uptrend, but again it fizzled out

10/1/15 – Long EURGBP – Short term trade, was looking for the same again, and the same thing happened

10/2/15 – Long NZDCAD – Short term trade, was just a bad trade

Note: 9-28-15 – Long EURGBP at 9:10 for 150,000, this was the trade I should have made this week, I missed it as I was scrolling through possible setups for that hour. Would have entered around 0.73488 and exited around 0.74200. I’m in the process of fixing problems like these.
