Almost registered and wanted to open an account until I saw this:

This is for poker players, not for traders.

500:1 leverage within 25 pip you lose all.

100 usd x 500 max leverage = 50k trade size, which is 0.5 lot and need to trade 25 lot.

So in the given example need to trade 50 times the 0.5 lot to get the $50 bonus, without loosing the account ( -25 pip )

1 lot has 3-10 usd commission usually, depends on the broker, may has $7 for a turn open $3.5+ close position $3.5
25 lot = 75-250 , and you give it 50 back as "50% bonus on deposit"

I don't feel bad for who register and trade for that bonus.
Dukascopy made similar fake motivation, which has demotivated me and left they: my wife became a contest winner, but to withdraw the prize I needed to trade a lot more then the commission, hidden between small letters...

I really have a respect for Oanda (and only this part is good at they) not giving bonuses and max 50:1 leverage. At least need 200 pip loss to wipe my account, they don't want all my money in 1 single trade

It should be noticed that a bonus is a bonus, it is not something like a gift, thus, in order to get it you should trade, it's a fact (I suppose, trading is the thing you came to Forex). Forex is not a place where you could get funds for free, it is a place where you could earn applying some or other skills, and bonus is like as an extra thing, provided in addition to what you get as a result of your trading. Moreover, you could start from 0,01 lot, it means that you don't need to put the whole volume on the line in order to get the bonus ASAP.

Dear OctaFX Rep,

I have a question concerning your demo:

I trade your ECN MT4 demo environment since July an noticed a significant change in fill characteristic since 2 weeks.
The average Fill/slippage (=difference betwens asked price end filled price) gets much better since 2 weeks.

When looking at the fills I found, that before the changes apear, I was NEVER got filled better than the asked price
(but often worse). Since 2 weeks I got negative AND POSITIVE slippage.

So two questions:
a) Can you confirm, that there was a change in the behavior of the demo ???

b) what will be the behavior on the live plattform ???

hi, can you give me a solution about connection quality. how to improve your connection quality? because I feel its still slow. I compare it with other ctrader broker on demo account. and your octafx is the most slowest on proxy/server latency connection quality. when I close all 30 position octafx slow than the other broker, the other broker about not more than 2 second clear, but octa need more than 5 second.
I think this about connection quality is crucial.

This sounded very promising to me.
So I opened a live account. The procedure is simple and verification was really fast.
But when logging into the MT4 Live account, I was very disappointed.

Spreads are significant higher, than on ECN demo. (easy to see in 2 windows)
In Majors about 0.3-0.6 pip, in Crosses 0.8 - 2 pips !

Feel a little bit cheaed by the demo.
Why are you not showing real costs in demo ???

Do not worry, our demo operates using real-time quotes, no other way. Actually, OctaFX offers floating spread that may vary depending on the market situation. For example, in periods of limited liquidity, at market open, during rollover at 00.00 (server time), during major news releases or high volatility periods spreads may widen beyond the typical spread. This happens because our prices accurately reflect what is available in the market.

i have a question about my pending order that just got cancelled out, although i did not do it. i was trading the NFP report and the price was actually hit my sell stop order but unfortunately the order did not execute... Why?

but thats no answer to my question.

Spreads in demo are also floating.
The question is, why on live accounts its demo-spread + 0.6-2 pip on all instruments and all tiime???

For me it looks like, that you are showing in demo your raw spreads and in live account you
are padding by a value, which covers your (hidden) commisions/costs.

For me thats not a good style and has a bad taste.

I also traded on NFP yesterday, it was really good one for me collected decent pips. I am trying this strategy a lot on demo account, but never did on real account, so I am interested in what reply you get from OctaFX, as I am definitely going to employ this strategy in future events, so just hope I never get any problem like that, but so far I am really enjoying working with this company especially for news events.

Please, note, that even though our demo platform provides both real-time market quotes and market conditions (as far as possible), this platform is intended to be used as an educational tool for newcomers or for testing various trading strategies. In periods of high volatility or low liquidity (at market open, major news releases and etc.) trading on demo account may differ from trading on the real one. The execution of similar trading operations on demo and real accounts may differ in such periods.

Operations on a demo account would never be a worthy replacement for the real one, they are not similar initially and never have been. Demo account is only quite good for teaching newbies the basics and for testing the advisers work. In all other respects it's only a toy-tool, so, the comparison is nothing here.

I used this Octa FX some years ago and i used them as my broker for a EA as the developer of that EA was also using this broker for his EA , which is almost a tick scalper, i made a initial deposit of 100$ and the EA did some trades and the trades were placed well without any slippage so i did a deposit of 1000$. The EA performed well made about 12% profit in 2 days. Then the developer of that EA informed me that he was forced to leave this broker for an unknown reason after he made about 400% profit in 2 months, they allowed him to withdraw his initial deposit and also the profit he made. so naturally i withdrawn all my funds from this broker and left some dollars to check the EA performance,
But from the next day my orders started to slip 2-3 pips for opening and also for closing orders, every trade after i withdraw my funds from them had slippage, before i withdrew my fund there was no slippage at all, every trade was placed precisely where i wanted.

they even closed my trade where the price never reached that level at that time, when i contacted their support about this they said that my order was experienced slippage and said the mt4 does not show the next best price
