Being rich isn't all it's cracked up to be, according to Minecraft billionaire Markus Persson. In a series of tweets over the weekend, the video-game designer bemoaned the loneliness, isolation and lack of motivation that large wealth can create. "The problem with getting everything is you run out of reasons to keep trying, and human interaction becomes impossible due to imbalance," he tweeted. "Hanging out in ibiza with a bunch of friends and partying with famous people, able to do whatever I want, and I've never felt more isolated." It helps to get something to shag, yes. But does it help to get a proper relationship? Probably not. A friend of mine is quiet rich (not a billionaire but in the 2 to 3 digit million amount (he runs a chemical/recycling/technologist company in Germany). He also said that it was hard to find a woman who was really interested in him and wasn't just looking to find a way to get the lifestyle she wanted.

Just because people here are jealous at the rich doesn't mean they (the rich) don't have any problems.

Anyway: Why is that discussed on ForexFactory? Probably just to tell the losers apart from the winners

If you can't have a nice house, luxury furniture, a big car and some nice Morgan three wheeler or so as a fun car where is the sense in having money in the first place? Then that raises the question why work/work out smart ideas anyway. Sounds almost like a classical communist problem to me.

Don't worry, I have some very good friends and I'm engaged, so I won't end up with just money but nothing else.

A nice car, furniture or so is more than just some piece of metal or wood for me. I enjoy craftmanship! I wear handmade bespoke italian or british shoes, some of them with a handmade patina as well. I really enjoy these things but these things have a price and other people can see that these products aren't cheap. Whats wrong with having a 20k swiss watch for some people it's not about showing of, it's about love for quality handwork. So we should hide all that because the majority of people are stupid and greedy? That's the problem with those novel ideas, they usually do not work.

Speaking about supporting people. Well, I do exactly that by buying these handmade products. I support people who chose a specific job because they love what they do and not because it gives them a 6 digit salary (and I have some nice car, shoes, shirts, bag ... so both win). I certainly will not give my money to lazy people and call that support of people in need.

Why would you want all of those things anyway? (Ok, I am a sucker for a nice car but I put that off to monetary goals have been achieved

But a huge house, and all that other balls is not necessary or wanted in my case - I never understood the appeal. The only thing that money buys that is of any value is freedom, opportunity, time and the ability to help others.

The point is that if he really wanted to keep his head down and the money on the quiet he could. A good woman is worth more than any fancy car, or house and all that other stuff materialistic bullshit that goes with being very wealthy. But he made his choice, he clearly values the money and fame more than a potential future wife, and I have zero sympathy for the guy because all of the above are fixable but it comes at a cost i.e. keeping a low profile.

If I were him, I keep my money invested elsewhere, have a modest existence and actually try and enjoy my life. The money isn't his problem.

There are plenty of people, through no fault of their own enduring hardship. I couldn't personally justify a 20k watch, not when their are soldiers coming back from Iraq and Afganistan with their limbs blown off with no support and no ability to support themselves.

It's your money so you can do whatever the fook you want with it, and you can tell yourself you are supporting other people by buying these things if you need to make yourself feel better too. But lets not pretend that you are thinking about the fella in the factory when you are buying your 20k watch...

I'm not swallowing that bs. Most people displaying their wealth are peacocking, it is a status thing, consciously or unconsciously.

In any event, it's none of my business lolz, just thought I would point that out since you decided to bring it up

Nearly all the male children I interact with in elementary school are more or less attracted to Minecraft and some are addicted to it. Looking at it, and the paraphernalia offshoots from it, I think the kind of influence it exerts is the reason the creator feels miserable.

Refreshingly honest. Everyone is interested in his money so hard to trust anyone is really a friend, especially females. Money makes living easier but not more satisfying.

Rather than trying to create another successful game he should find other interests. And perhaps donate small amounts to people in need of a decent car or home repairs. Percy Ross was a millionaire who did that.

And I observe even more lower income people sprouting on about how wonderful and noble their poverty is. The interesting thing is that poor people are far more fixated on money than wealthy people are...they are constantly talking about how much stuff costs, always banging on about how much rich people make...as if what someone else has or doesn't have makes one scrap of difference to them. Just because someone else is wealthy doesn't make you or anyone else one bit poorer.

Well midaspro,you are right,except one difference is ,i don't feel that them being rich makes me poorer....
What really makes me upset at these rich people is the fact that they have the money to help people like me to get their home fixed,or get a used part for their old car to keep it going another year, they would rather give it to some company that don't need it or send it to another country....
Gates,and buffet ,give money back and forth to each other and send money to other countries....this is what makes me mad...instead of trying to help our own,it goes to africa,china,kuwait,stuff like that....the only thing i would really want for christmas this year is to have a truck that has 4 doors and be a toyota...and then to have my trailer fixed to where we can stay in it without it leaking from the faucets,or the floor falling in ...my wife and i are on a monthly income from disability,and we cannot afford to get either one done....im not giving any sad sob story ,just telling the truth.....it would really be a shocker to wake up and see a new truck in the drive way,with a ribbon and insurance paid for 10 years ,but its just a dream though....
