History tends to repeat itself, so with more historic data, you have better feel of what will repeat.

Go to previous months' results. With that, you'd be able to know if a particular news has bearing or not on the market.

Likewise, you'd know if said news are permanent (climb and stay there) or temporary (whipsaw) so you'd be equiped with the correct strategy.
