Yes it does leave a lot of money on the table, but I wouldn't say that it doesn't make sense. You also leave a lot of risk on the table as well. Risk-reward are always inversely related. Plus you can get better at trading that particular currency vs trading many that all behave differently.

exotic pairs are always unstable. even more than basic pairs during news, no matter at what time do you trade.

P.S. i trade during day sessions eurusd usdchf and usdjpy during night sessions. also, trading expotics time to time

about 3-4 pairs: USD/CHF, USD/JPY something like that . Also I would recommend for newbies: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, AUD/USD and NZD/USD only. For experienced trader: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, AUD/USD, NZD/USD, USD/CHF, USD/JPY, EUR/JPY, GBP/JPY, AUD/JPY & XAUUSD.
There is no need to be sprayed on the set of pairs, many traders are generally concentrated only on a single instrument, and at the same time earn good money. Specialization has not been canceled. 1 pair is enough to become a richman

I have 4 pairs on my screens (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, AUD/USD, USD/JPY) but most of the time I'm watching just 2 of them.

5 Pairs

EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDUSD, NZDUSD, XAUUSD.

Common denominator is they all end with USD - which means they all have the same tick value- 15 pips on GBPUSD is the same value as 15 pips on NZDUSD, which simplifies money management purposes.
-also I find it easier to focus on single currencies rather than pairs as they're all based in USD.

31, basically everything FXCM has to offer minus ZARJPY and anything with a CHF in it. I am a semi long term trader and only look at technicals, nothing else so spread is not really something I worry about.

I trade a hotforex account and currently i say i trade about 3 pairs tops, mostly interconnected.

Usually a few, but sometimes when I feel a little crazy the number can go up to 8. Ideally, I should not trade more than a few.

I started with a lot, but since a lot of pairs trend the same way, I have weened my list down a bit. I do occasionally run through all of them just to see what the charts are doing. If I feel I can get a good trade in with AUD/USD, I go for that, though that pair often just kinda does what it wants and doesnt follow trends as much imo.

Now 3 pairs on hotforex account, EUR/USD, GBP/USD, AUD/USD, 3 pairs are enough for me and actually first two are my main concern.

I trade 7 pairs:

The Four Major Pairs:

  1. EUR/USD
  2. USD/JPY
  3. GBP/USD
  4. USD/CHF


The Three Commodity Pairs:

  1. AUD/USD
  2. USD/CAD
  3. NZD/USD

I mostly trade GBP/USD, EUR/USD, USD/JPY and NZD/USD. I am not fond of trading many pairs at the same time because I tend to lose track of what I'm doing.

I am using 12 pairs for trading. ADUUSD, EURJPY, EURNZD, EURTRY, EURUSD, GBPUSD, NZDUSD, USDCAD,USDCHF, USDJPY, and USDTRY.
EURUSD, GBPUSD and USDCHF are most-using by me pairs (ALSO EURTRY)
Also I tried AUDDKK, but it was lost trade, so I will not use this pair anymore)

for trading I use a pair of suitable tools are not interconnected with each other, having almost zero correlation coefficient. If I'm going to trade on news, I need to choose the pairs for which there is a reliable news channel - EUR/USD, for example.
Now I set my own EA on demo account, using the EUR/USD, USD/JPY, GBP/USD & USD/AUD.

News trading is a very risky style, so be careful with it. Gaps can create a big drawdown. (sorry for mistakes, I am bad in English)

When I started trading on daily time frame I 25+ pairs to my Mt4 as its easy to look at all of them once a day for your setup. But now because of some pairs co-related behavior I've dropped several pairs from my set and now I trade 13/14 pairs max.

I trade only on EURUSD and GBPUSD. I feel more comfortable risking a little bit more % on a single trade than be exhausted to monitor 20+ pairs for opportunities.

Yes it is always better to do our trading in Pairs with which we are more comfortable with.

This will also make sure that we are able to trade without any problems since the main thing for us is the ability to Focus
