NU correction to top of daily down channel complete. UCad correction to bottom of daily up channel complete. I shouldn't be calling tops and bottoms here, but that's just the way it looks to me. Any questions, comments, complaints? This is a discussion forum, so feel free to discuss!

Hi Terminator, yes, I have used the 100 and 200 ema and sma. I haven't been able to make a profit with them, but that doesn't mean someone else can't. -G

Hi G,

for some reason I do not get emails anymore about the thread. So I thought I discuss something with you, I opened the thread and there are about 80 Posts I have to read now... :-)

There is an interesting Situation out there in the markets and you like discussions so I thought I address it to you. As you said yourself we might all learn from them.

So the situation interesting as there are "too many" good trades out there. Basically comdolls are losing all ground and EUR, GBP and JPY are gaining ground (I do not trade CHF and USD now).

So now the following problems can occur:

1. overleveraging because of too many open trades
2. poor trade execution because of too many open trades
3. losing concentration

I remember once you wrote about choosing the best trades. If I choose more trades, then I have better diversification. This might be important as we have a couple of strong currencies and a couple of weaker ones. Still, the above mentioned problems are real.

Lets assume I go long with all three currencies: EUR, GBP and JPY vs. all the possible combinations of CAD, NZD and AUD. This would give us 9 trades. Now we start scaling in, lets say 3 positions for every trade. We face now 27 trades to execute at the same time. It seems a lot.

Not even mentioning that all those pairs are pretty much correlated. The comdolls are all risk on currencies. So until sleeping, we might get a risk on sentiment and with such high correlatins, all 27 might turn against us which can be a huge risk to our equity.

I would like to ask your opinion about Money Management in this situation, because I do believe the correlation does change this special scenario from the earlier mentioned ones.

BTW my favorite trades are GBPCAD and EURAUD, EURNZD.

I made the little tweaks you suggested, the technology is great, I am making good progress. Just thought I give some feedback and update on the great thread.

IBO

Sure preshi, here it is.

Be aware it's a WIP of mine, unfinished and tested only versus my MT4 broker time (especially asian sessions may be troubleshooting in weekend overlapping)

That's an excellent question Terminator. I haven't found any analysis that shows which is better, a stop or a limit order. It's a bit like asking which is better, a screwdriver or a pair of pliers. They are both mechanical tools good for a purpose, but for different purposes. One thing to note is that once a stop is hit, it becomes a market order and the trade is executed at the next transaction price. In very liquid markets, that is usually very close to the stop price, but in very volatile or illiquid markets, that next transaction price could be very far from the stop price. A limit order will just not execute if price is beyond the limit. That's bad for a loss protection order (since it may never execute), but it assures an entry or exit price will not be beyond the preset amount of the limit order. Investopedia is a good source for learning about the various types of conditional orders. Just search for your topic of interest. Best success. -G

Thanks for the feedback IBO. Yes, it seems it is always feast or famine. If there are no good trades, we just can't take any. We can't force trades. We have to just be patient knowing that good trades will come our way if we are willing to wait on them. If there are too many good trades, we can only trade according to our money management. Good money management is critically important as it will keep you in the game long enough to be successful. Bad money management can wipe out an account much faster than picking bad trades. That means picking out what seems to be the best of the opportunities to trade. In the end, diversification isn't really that important since only one or two good trades will make all the profit a person needs. Diversification is a concern when our money management forces us to pick between what seems to be equally good opportunities. So for instance, if for money management reasons I needed to pick two of the three trades you mentioned, GBPCAD and EURAUD, EURNZD, with all other things being equal I'd pick GCad and the strongest of either EA or EN, since EA and EN are likely to be closely correlated. Thanks for the discussion. Best success. -G

Good morning G and all.

I'm sorry for my absrupt absence but i had some personal issues and i couldn't trade much.
I need to catch everything up and i'll do by this weekend.

In the meantime in my dead time i've read 3 times Graeme's thread and Gregwilson's one. They are both gold.

I currently and for a long time won't be able to stay on the pc for more than 30 min /day, at the evening. So i switched to trade only M/W/D charts and see what happens.

Had some trades going on gbp/jpy (i got in the first week of july on the major correction, nu, au and gc. All going well although i don't know whether they will keep going or not.

Most of these entries are pure luck, i still have a major issue. Low risk entries don't work for me. Might seem strange to say but i can jump in a trade only when i'm more then confident about it and i know what i don't want to see in it. That mental stop might be 200 pips away, but still...
