there is no excuse for a platform to be down... to that extant.. must be doing something to square away orders or positions.
Price is the only indicator.

yah,, that's what i suspect..massive manipulation so clients who have open positions over the weekend can't do much anything with their open trades (assuming they can't get through calling the dealing desk).. glad that i don't keep my trades longer..

its only just now..around 22:19 EST that the quotes are moving with the forex market

Hmmm.... maybe a vast conspiracy. Recently VT down.. Oanda down.. and now FXCM. For the last two this is very rare.

maybe they dont like it when retail customers are postioned in winning positions against their dealing desks.
Price is the only indicator.

to put it bluntly.. the longer a platform is down, the more positions that get sent to the dealing desk for liquidation since most accounts are undercapitalized. The dealing desk gets a windfall on the spread.
Price is the only indicator.

VTrader down
VTrader has been down all weekend upgrading the servers and software with emphasis on reliabilty and connections (more to come later). So far it looks good - it's about time. VT is the best strategy tester available.

I have had my oanda platform open 24/6 without any problems for the last month with zero outage. The game platform is a mess, but the live is flawless...

I agree, I had one very brief issue with my fxtrade (oanda's real account system) but I think it was just my computer lagging because a restart took care of it. Oanda knows its reputation is on the line and its not going to sacrifice it, they make more money when they have new cash coming in from new customers.

I was informed that some terrorist who ploted the UK attack were pissed with FXCM. In retaliation, they sabotaged some of FXCM's servers.

We call them the four letter word that starts with "F". I had a position open, and was up 83 pips, and by the time they fixed the problem, position was down to 35 pips. Nice huh? Furthermore, can someone please explain why the tradestation posts price changes in seconds when the price moves against you, but takes 20 seconds to post prices that are in favor of your position? I've been 10-15 pips in profit and had it take so long to show anything on the tradestation, that sniping was impossible, but the second its coming back at you, the thing correlates perfectly!? P.S. Feed is the same as chart feed.
I'm fed up, time to change. It happens too frequently to be considered more than a coincidence...

MB's Demo went down as well. I don't know about their actual trading platform. Didn't have a problem with FXTrade with Oanda though.

I no longer rely on FXCM price during volatile market and uses NF (or other broker) instead.

Indeed the price will freeze if its moving in your favor and very fast if against your position. In one instance (last friday), GBPUSD frooze at 1.8940s when it was clearly down to 1.8900~1.8890 over at NF. If I dont have NF I may perhaps paniced and close it. But Seeing that that price had gone down very well, I was confident FXCM cant screw me that day.

Well, they can keep it up with their antics and soon enough, everyone will know how they work. That will be good for business...

Call me nutty, but I think there's a major connection issue with the east coast this evening. Half of my web-browsing has gone to hell, but if I play games on a west coast server, it's smooth and fine. Regardless, this blows chunks and I hope UUNet or whoever the offender gets slapped around like they deserve.

Yes I think you are right, because my SBFX is also down, but my connection with MGForex is up...

Also, I checked my satellite connection and it is up.
