Go onto Youtube and look for "how to fix a sluggish MT4". Works absolutely fantastic. Over time the files gathered too much stuff and need to be cleaned up. All your settings stay the same, just a faster MT4 in the end.
Wondering if anyone encountered this issue with mt4 build 830 . Suddenly started crashing whole computer when I try to open mt4 . Been on phone with broker - forex.com . Uninstalled mt4 , re-installed from link they sent me , same problem , crashes windows when attemping to open mt4 . Have run two different anti virus softwares scanning all files . no issues . I am suspecting some of the old mt4 files stay on my hard drive but cannot find anything .
Or is the current mt4 software not compatible with older windows versions --xp pro . Has worked for years but has my luck run out ?
I opened my MT4 platforms tonight from multiple brokers and they are all referencing files in AppData/Roaming/Metaquotes/Terminal instead of the installed MT4 folder in Program Files. As a result, none of my EAs, templates, profiles and custom indicators are accessible from my MT4 platform.
I restarted my PC and tried opening the MT4 platforms directly from the Program Files MT4 folders, but once the platforms had opened, they still incorrectly referenced files in AppData/Roaming/Metaquotes/Terminal.
