I'm not sure how to put this and I don't want to be too clichéd so i'll just get straight to the point.

I withdrew my funds and closed my trading account today.

I've decided that trading is going on the back burner for a while, potentially forever. That is left to be seen. I've spent a lot of time at this and haven't got anywhere with it. It's time for a change.

I cannot express how much this thread has helped me. A huge thank you to everyone that has contributed and personally helped me since I joined in October 2010.

A few thank yous;

I can't go without mentioning the old guard - Malcolm, Intel, Dr.G, Beljevina and Sonofsin5.

Also, a personal thank you to Steve Gill, pres78, HiddenGap, SimpleDev and 1pipperhour who have put up with me quite a bit!

Anyone i've chatted with / pmd / shared charts with.

Thank you!

{quote} This all played out nicely end of last week and the start of this week. I hope others made some $ off the USD strength. It was well due as many pairs were in need of these retraces for new position building.

Be wary at the moment as it appears the USD strength has perhaps run it's course. Still too early today to say for sure but there are some signs of possible resumption of trends coming on pairs like EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDCAD etc...

Time will tell. I will evalute further at the end of day (note that this is based on Daily charts ONLY - using volume of course ). Playing the major trends as well as the retraces.

Hi pres

could you tell me if a wide spread bar can have a zone even if volume on this bar is negligible? this is the 2nd time I've noticed such a behaviour.

pls see the below chart see how PA is respecting the low & mid.

Yes if it accomplished something. That bar volume is low because it's time of day however it took out 3 noticeable swings lows closing below all 3. Based on that fact alone I would keep an eye on that bar. That May 19th bar was NZD news driven (key areas to watch).

Notice the delta zone it left behind as well and it's result - lower prices another WRB.

That WRB zone you have marked has a hidden gap in it yes, it's not drawn exactly as such but the general area is correct. It's a bit above the inside bar/ND.

For a certain time there were only your charts ( & those of pres78 and HiddenGap ) of much use to me. So I am sorry to see you go. I am still a quiet reader of this excellent thread and it is me who has to thank YOU for all your effort & willingness to contribute.

Have you tried trading shares/stocks with vsa ? For me ( and I remember Anna Coulling having said that as well ) it is much easier. Without sounding too dramatic, the first few easy profits with stocks almost brought me to tears. Kind of : all these years struggling for peanuts, not knowing that a diamond was under my pillow.

But either way, I wish you lots of success in your endevours.

I would call this an "Effort To Fall" myself. While the volume is not high, it is clear who was in charge of this interval-sellers. From a VSA perspective, this is the epitome of what a healthy weak bar should look like. The volume is increasing, but not excessive. The spread is increasing and the close is off the low of the range, but still in the lower 25th percentile of it.

There are 3 ways to draw the zone(regardless of if one is using candles or bars):

1. One can use the Body(open-close). On the chart below, this is the shaded area.

2. One can use the actual Hidden GAP. On the chart below, this is the area defined by the two red dashed lines.

3. One can use the Range (High-Low). On the chart below, this is the original area marked by the two solid black lines.

What's important is to be consistent.

From a VSA point of view, Range probably makes the most sense. Because VSA does not technically look at the open, the Body (open-close) is irrelevant. Which is why Tom Williams only uses HLC bars.

I'm at a loss for words right now. Please check your PMs. Once I find my thoughts, I will have much to say. I do know that "thank you" and "you will be missed" don't seem to cover it.

Now this I got to remember, but we cannot be blamed, we are taught to look for Yao Ming bars to start with.

You have to watch and see how price reacts to SOS/SOW.

Does the next bar confirm the SOS?
Is price staying above or below the SOS?
Are the test succeeding or failing?
Is price trending up? Down? Or sideways?

That AU chart has a SOW (described in black wording) and Absorption volume (in white wording)
