It depends on what you consider to be an engulf. Try to define it and explain in terms of OHLC or other reference points please.

Sorry for the late reply, I hadn't noticed a response. In the context of a bull candle engulfing a bear candle the close of the bull candle needs to be higher than the open of the bear candle.
