@Math: Maybe you can close your position depend of the speed of the variation of the momentum ? => I use it a lot for my scalping.
Or find an average ratio of speed/acceleration on the 5 or 6 candles before the current one and define and define a value to close the trade if it's in the extreme zone (as Bollinger Band). Hope you understand my idea.

I just didn't get what you mean by saying "the speed of the variation of the momentum"?

I mean that maybe there is something to find by calculate the variation of the momentum between the actual and past ticks/M1 candle (acceleration and speed as you do with the price) and compare the data with the speed and acceleration of price as you already do.

=> If the momentum decline and the speed/acceleration of price fall => open a short or close the actual buy...
=> If the momentum not move and the speed/acceleration of price fall => stay in position...

I don't know if it's possible and if it's good...just an idea

The second attempt...{image} The probelm: what should be the criterion to close the positions? I just closed the positions manually and disabled the EA. I would like to hear your opinion about the criteria/rules to close the opened positions by speed/acceleration of the market.
Ignored
We are talking here about extreme scalping so first you can count on predefined TP. Second possibility could be decresing of the speed of the market under certain level which is a dynamic TP. But keep in mind that TP bellow 2 pips even for ECN broker could be a problem in terms of longer cooperations with him as liquidity provider will take care to stop you very quickly, but I am talking here about MT4. With such a scalping system its better to move to API like FIX etc if you want to earn real money.

Better to try search on net about it as for this type of scalping this is a must if you think about it professionally. MT4 is a toy for retail traders and highly manipulate by virtual dealer plugins....

Found it on the net! If I see some potential with this approach, I may start learning the FIX API and switch to a more professional platform... Thanks for your hint!

It's too soon to run the EA on live accounts! I'm still looking for proper exit rules/criteria

This may not need FIX, especially since liquidity isnt an issue on spot FX; and we're not running an HFT strategy (so the effect of an execution lag of a few micro seconds should be negligible). I think an ECN Broker should more than suffice with the method..

Yes this is not HFT but .....I do not agree as TP<= 2 pip is for retail broker even if ECN defined as extreme scalping and not very welcome. Maybe you will be tolerated below some small lot size trades and you are finished there. If you think this professionally you need decent API and you will be fine.

It might seem unusual teapeak, but I know 2 different parties who are already doing this (TP<=2 pips) successfully on retail ECN...one of them uses really scary leverage.

How about transferring this potential HFT tick-scalper strategy to the centralized Currency Futures Markets which have the same exact price movements as the spot markets?

Clean market conditions, no "virtual dealer plug-ins", no broker tricks...

Hi,

thank you for sharing Seepdometer

It would be nice to get some explanation for the 3 first parameters?
Attached Image

idea to close the trade or activate trail stop would be to add 2 lines into the histogramm indi that would be the average. (green bars and red bars)
So if green average decreases while OP_BUY , close or activate trail stop.
So if red average decreases while OP_SELL , close or activate trail stop.
(Just an idea)

Cheers

My suggestion try first clean cut / predefined TP no trailing as this could cause problems to retail broker as too many request can overload they servers. Dont forget this is extreme scalping for about 2 pips. Just stay as simple as possible If working good then you can experiment....
