Still losing

Gentlemen,
I have a similar problem. My win/loss trades ratio is 4:1 but my account has a %7 loss moneywise. I'm using Point and Figure indicator and according to it I put my S/L somehow far from the execution point.
May I ask for some suggestions?

Well it seems a great win over loss ratio, I manage to trade with what would seem a nasty risk:reward ratio close to 3:2 or 2:1 but in a win/loss ratio similar to yours, if you are underwater it might be due to profits being way smaller than losses and that falls into the category of the old "letting the profits run", it may be tricky though, as I said before my profits are smaller compared to my losses but they come less often, have a little faith in your trading methodology and may be aim at larger profits (nearest Support/Resistance levels) and do the same for the stop losses, they should be no farther from the latest swing, if they are too far away, may be only one of those losses would wipe out all of your earnings.

The only way that's possible is if your risk/reward ratio is very poor. Are you risking pennies to get dollars or dollars to get pennies? It certainly seems like the latter case here.

Yes, Kanzler. It seems my R/R ratio is part of the problem. And it's obvious now to me that the reason is I'm buying greed and selling fear while I should, according to you, do the opposite.
I'll do my best to put your advice regarding adjusting my R/R ratio into action, along with Eric's, and I'm positive that my performance will get better soon.

Here is my often recurring problem regarding risk:reward ratio. If i had a good risk:reward ratio eg 1:2 ,1:3 or above i will be stopped out too often. The stop sometimes is triggered 5 -7 in a row and thats normal? And then after i got the win the losing streak seems too continue and acontinue (death in thousand cuts). I had reviewed my trades using S&R on short time frame and long time frame. Tough luck ,both ended with same result. I had used trending methods and bingo i met some ugly sideways action. ALways unlucky. I had even tough luck on timing the trades without getting stop out even when the direction is right.As more stops is getting hit so does the stress rise and i began making mistakes. Even 1:1 r:r is 50% probability at most. Unless your having a 80% win rate with 1:2risk reward ratio then you should not bother trading imho. I felt like wasting time recouping the losses slowly not to mention missing the occasional big winner due to real life situations.How can i sit down looking at the chart for 12 hours? Even in daily tf the trades are infrequent and sooner or later the market will humble you.
So i came to conclusions that stop losses need careful balancing 1) Not getting stopped often in sideways trend is critical so you need large stop 2) During trend you need smaller stops so you can replace the fallen trades to recoup some losses as the trend usually comes and goes 3) SL need to be large enough and small enough to not ruin the account.
I'm puzzled that some ppl here can trade pure action profitably with good/great risk;reward and they seem to be good at timing and they are know when to bail or hold.I had been trading fx for closeto 7 years and still haven figure it out and here comes ppl with only 2 -3 years experience trading without stress.Maybe my personality didnt suit this kind of trading but i do reach close to profitibily only when my risk :reward 3:1 . I tried and i tried to improve the risk reward but always fall back to this.Sometimes even worse , my tp is usually smaller than sl.
Somehow i always managed to f*** up trading the usual style these ppl do. I envy them. ALso im not always near the computer and when i do i like to make trades as time is gold to me.
Now when ppl talk about edge in trading what do i think? 1) trend 2) inefficiency - what inefficiency i had no idea 3) arbitrage? 4) iinterest rate (swap?) 5) Super low spread for scalpers i had seen some very good trades but they need good broker(ECN) 6) some can combine FA and TA to make trading decision(macro) 7) stat arb? using baskets then calculate each pair for their individual weights making a combo synthethic pair which is ranging all the time - require rebalancing /some top software to make complex calculation which i never understand 8) Some say the edge is in their mind (i dont comprehend this language) 9) Understand economics...but can you predict/ apply to the market which can act irrational.
If youre still loosing you need to figure out your personality which style of trading suits you. You can know by trading in demo or small live accounts. Some are good at picking trades, predicting. Some are good playing the odds just need balancing your tp : sl. But when your trading with less stress less emotion then you know you do something right.You can throw out my advice as this is only my experience as im still struggling to bring my battered account into profits.Best of luck/fortune to you

1.Look at higher time frames and enter using lower time frames

2. STOP repeating the mistakes over and over again. when you make a mistake learn from it and DONOT repeat

3.DONOT guess what the market will do.wait for it to tell you what it will do.

4.Repeat Step 1 - 3

Hi all. I am a rookie and am trying to trade with only a simple 21 moving average and candlesticks. I use the simple rule that when the candlesticks cross from below the moving average to above it, then it's an opportunity to buy and vice versa. I opened a demo account with a $100 deposit but I seem not to be making progress. Also, my leverage is 1:100. Please anyone help me in any way that you can coz I am intending on funding my real account with $100 soon and start trading. Please, how can I perfect this trading system that I am trying to use. I use only the H1, H4, 1D timeframes. Also, can anyone please tell me how best to trade when high impact economic announcements are made. I need to know the best timeframes to use during announcements and the exact time to enter and close the trade during announcements. Thank you.

first thing only trade with a 10 cents position. I have been learning from one of the best traders I have ever seen. Always trade with real money but the smallest position possible until you are consistant. start with the seed and don't just plant the whole tree. You will learn more about the tree as the seed grows. I will give you some great indicators to start with and you must understand time frames the 4 hour goes two to four time frames remember that. Use two pole super smooth in your market code base start there

Any time this has happened to me, I have gone back to the basics, reviewed everything and back to demo's too. It helps.

Look for price patterns in the market with a high success rate. And use tight stops! And trade with the trend. That has been the key to my success. I can trade successfully with no indicators with the right price patterns. PATTERNS work plain and simple. Since 99% of the people on here are losing why in the world would you listen to anything they have to say? Try doing the opposite and being an entrepreneur and developing something YOURSELF.

I think you have to stop trading first and learn the trading strategies. Use a demo account first. Then invest real money.

Yes, I also agree with that. A continued loss is commonly due to a lack of knowledge or experience, so it would be better to stop trading in live and start practicing in demo with new strategies until you target the right one.
