I have a few macd mtf indicataors but they of course repaint if it's on a higher time frame. Is there perhaps a a histogram version that doesn't repaint any of the past? thanks

Real MTF by definition repaints ... That's normal and logical.

doesn't simply increasing the period of indicators act as a higher time frame? If you use the lower time frame data you can achieve a pseudo mtf indicator without repainting.

On a 1 min chart a 70 Period SMA = 14 Period SMA on 5 minutes if I am not mistaken.

Yes ... but that's not a real MTF. That's approximative.

Your solution draw an up/down line within the 5 M1 candles ... while the real value (M5) is the same (horizontal line) ... forming steps each 5 M1 candles.

Approximated to be sure...but is still actually a true value in the timeframe.

The M1 Moving averages on an M5 chart are quite literally 5x the value.

The only real issue with a Pseudo Moving Average, is if you are looking for a true trigger from a larger timeframe applied to a smaller. Inside of 5 minute period, the value of an M1 candle can trigger and negate.

But, really, isn't that the issue with all MTF's?

Not to mention, there is no such thing as a non-repainting indicator. The values of candles will change when data fills on broker resets...looking at historical shit and running backtests is a testament to how flawed the "Actual", data is, when applied to what is happening now.

If you wait the higher TF candle to close, your signal will be delayed by X candles. Example H1 on M1 ... you will wait 60 candles to have the definitive signal.

it's delayed by x candles but it also probably removes some false weak signals wouldn't you say?
