Yes they do that all the time. Mind just margin requirement... I have a Reg-T account, and for May 600/800 short strangle like Kristi did, m.r. is about > $8,000...
Margin requirements are much lower on Portfolio margin accounts... also, when you got yourself burned on expensive stock, i.e. one of the strikes finished ITM... losses are substantial, and sometimes it really doesn't pay to roll. I felt that on NFLX in last ER's cycle. I took a loss on ITM call, closed that mofo on small dip, no roll would help there, since that call was bellow 400... That one loss whipped out all my ER's related gains from previous cycle... So, one has to really choose the stocks.

I am likely staying out of ER scalps. Maybe watch the indices for a weekly entry maybe tomorrow or later. I have PBR long puts, their earnings for the last several quarters are being sent down in a bucket over the wall of some jungle prison even as we speak - hope they make it to a internet computer thingy on time, could be epic.

Watching WTI storage data maņana for a miss high & a dip & another BTFD opp. Trying to maintain interest....break-even trading getting old....

I can't trade 24/7.... DAX is European Dragon my friend ... I would trade the mofo before noon, since it opens at 8 a.m. my time... maybe when I put my child in kindergarten. Then I could just trade double shifts, from 8 a.m. to 22 p.m. when NYSE close... you know, just full time stuck into the monitor...

OK, BTFD or STFD, either way. A glut number will run with the other Saudi news and we might even get a multi-day move back towards WTI $50. If it's rabbit season all the time you just gotta learn to like rabbit meat.

Just a few more weeks of dicking around, and I'll start in trading live ... . Kind of like starting these things off at the beginning of a month ... .

One of things I'd never thought I'd trade was any kind of commodity and particularly oil ... . Over the past several months when I was trying to find a spot to go long the Ruble (epic fail, lemme tell ya), I did more reading and research on oil than virtually anything else ... . Still follow most of the jazz that affects oil prices because I'm in CAD on a virtually constant basis ... . The good thing about it is that the market will move if a single Houthi rebel farts in a sandstorm in Yemen ... ; the bad thing about it is that the market will move if a single Houthi rebel farts in a sandstorm in Yemen ... .

Long story short, gonna be tradin' some petro ... . Was thinking that prices would hit that mid to late December consolidation area before retreating lower; now price is hesitant to break $57. Saudis more than made up for decreased rig count, http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/...0NB09620150420; once the overblown treatment of Houthi rebels' endangering shipping lanes dissipates (it already is; Saudis are scaling back air campaign), oil's back in the crapper ... .

Would think that selling calls with strikes in that December consolidation area would do the trick, too, no? Like Short June 60 Call ... . Mmm. Looks like the boat may have already left the dock there ... . June 60 Calls off .52 to .85 on volume of 26145 ... .
