if the dollar is strong in the future it will not be the dollar that the american public uses ... the dollar the american public uses will not be strong, and so the american public will not be strong. there may be two dollars in the future.

Well I do not know about legends, but on my chart the USD Index is out of its mind and pointing to the sky. It is clearly driven by fundamentals, but as I have never seen yet a currency reaching the stars, it will have to go down at some point. As a crash ? I do not know.

USDX will not crash, some day it will return to a mid-level.

I used to think that about the US, indeed George D Bush and Rumsfeld did exactly that assisted by the UK sheep....

It doesn't matter which politician will be elected. The agenda will be the same. There are other people in the shadow who are ruling the world. They want the whole economy to go down the hill, so there will be an excuse for a global currency.

Legends aside. You should know better than me that the USD cannot keep rising forever. It will fall and when it happens it will be much faster than the time needed to climb the chart. We'll see if there is some truth about the whole predictions after this summer. Until then the dollar will maintain its status quo.

Not sure whether a 'collapse' is coming, but with the global economy slowing down, as well as commodity prices having dropped hugely, I can see that a huge fall in the Dollar's value is possible. This global slowdown, state of the Eurozone, problems with Islamic State across the world; these are all factors which will affect the markets, including the Dollar.

A rate hike has been heavily priced into the Dollar against most currencies, at least Gold has been holding it's own at that 1300 level until very recently. If we don't get a rate hike because of those problems I've mentioned above having an effect on the US economy and the Fed tell us straight up or indicate that a rate hike is now off the cards for a while, that's where we'll see a HUGE sell off in the Dollar.

And my guess is it would go to your safe havens: Japanese Yen and Swiss Franc, as well as commodities such as GOLD and SILVER.

But in general, I believe if the problems I stated above do affect the Dollar, then it's going to affect the whole economy across the world.

On the other hand, if the global slowdown manages to not affect the US, and the Euro situation doesn't turn out as bad as it's looking, that rate hike will come eventually and probably continue back up to that 1.5 / 2.0% level, pushing the Dollar way higher.

Unfortunately, although looking at a chart can give clues, if the fundamentals pushing these markets carries on, there won't be any stopping it...

Got it backwards. Commodities have been collapsing while the dollar has been rising - which in turn is the reason commodities continue to drop further.

The U.S. is a consumer driven economy which means the products we buy, made from lower priced commodities, cost less. That helps us but hurts commodity driven economies - such as in the Middle East, South American countries and Australia and Canada.

In any case flight to the dollar should continue for some time.

Yes commodities have been collapsing with a rising dollar. That's what I mean, I might have worded it wrong. Clear to see anyway...

Dollar won't rise forever, yet it won't collapse as well. Unless you'd call ~2500 pips depreciation of US dollar over the course of two years a collapse (fully possible in the future), these are just the natural global economic fluctuations (constant hunt for yields).
