does any one know where i could find the historical economical data (GDP, CPI, unemployment, ....) for a specific country ?

Just go to the FF home page where the economic calendar is ... Find the one you want to see history (ie. GDP), click on the folder icon ... You should find the historical here ...

I too love tradingeconomics and use them personally. But for those who don't want to break the bank you can refer to the Central Banks for cvs exportable data for free99


If you have microsoft Excel you can for free add-in FRED http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred-addin/ from the Federal Reserve. It is really intuitive for being free and you can do data manipulations, compare data points to other countries ect...

Also the RBA is one of the biggest Central Banks to provide economic data that you can easily (free) export to excel. They don't just cover Australia, they cover just about every country that puts out econ information.


I have a massive excel database as well of econ data so if you're looking for anything in particular I might have it saved in one of my thumb drives to send your way... Best of luck in your search.

i know it's not free, but they have some free content which is still useful.

i have a subscription with them and it's worth the money.
p.s. briefly, if you go legal and trade as a business, when you file your taxes there's an amount you can deduct for educational/business operating purposes.
for this reason alone, paying the subscription it's quite free. think about it!

Attached is a ZIP containing a comma separated (CSV) file of FF calendar news announcements from Jan 1, 2007 thru March 14, 2015, timestamped New York EST (or DST when applicable). The CSV file can be imported to any platform (e.g. Excel) for further analysis. (If you load the file into Excel, you can sort/filter by country, or any field(s) that you wish).

Columns (from left to right) are: Date, Time, Currency, News description, Impact, Actual, Forecast, Previous, Revised from, Plotted wingdings symbol (ignore), Color value (ignore), Spacing (ignore), FF event ID

I update this periodically in this thread.

I know that 10 years have passed, but if anybody's still interested in obtaining csv data from tradingeconomics.com (for free), I've managed to scrape data off web pages from their site without using their commercial Export or API facilities. For example, the attached csv file is a summary of this page (currency forecasts for Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4 2025. Duplicate entries have been removed, and the csv file is sorted into alphabetical order of the currency symbols).

If anybody has specific requests for data from this extremely comprehensive site, please explain clearly what you require, and I'll see if it's feasible. I don't mind providing data on a periodic basis, but I won't be sharing the python software that I wrote to extract the data.

Interesting pages, but without any proof of a track record of accuracy, and no reasoning behind it, I'm not sure what to do with it, other than to interpret that the site has a bias up or down.

First, I would suggest a new data column, "Date_of_Forecast". (Date+Time?)

Since the current price updates all the time, my guess is that the targets also update as well. (Instant? Daily? Weekly?)
So far as I can tell, no historical data of Forecasts is available.

What would be possible, then, is to regularly download this data, and -- at the very least -- mark the next quarterly forecast on a chart, above or below current price. Over time, one could see whether it is accurate at all, or utterly useless at forecasts.

To be fair, I just noticed that this is the 'Trading Discussion' forum, not 'Platform Tech', which is probably where I should have posted in the first place. My bad.

As for the meaningfulness or accuracy of the forecasts, I make no recommendation. I'm merely scraping and posting whatever data is available, in response to an earlier post (#5) requesting data from tradingeconomics.com, but stating that the use of their Export facility was prohibitively expensive. I just chose the forecast data as an example to demonstrate what is possible; there is a huge amount of other data at that site, that I thought might be useful to somebody, albeit 10 years after the original request. Perhaps I should have chosen a different page for my example. Again, apologies, my bad.

Regarding the spammer, he also spammed the 'I will code your EAs and Indicators for no charge' thread which is under 'Platform Tech'. So not your fault at all; his alone.

I'm not happy you deleted your 2nd post! If you thought I was criticizing you, then please accept my apologies! The data is the first step to even be able to figure out if there's something useful about the Forecasts or not. I suggested to add the extra column (with the date of scraping the forecast data) as a necessary first step. It would be only with taking multiple snapshots of their forecasts, and plotting them on a chart to get a proper sense of whether they are helpful or not.

Now to be honest, I don't know that I'll put much effort towards that end, but perhaps, or maybe someone else who spots this thread and data -- or the requestor from 10 years back -- might make use of it. Totally up to you whether you repost it, and whether you make any additional posts of updated snapshots, after, say, a month, and/or 2, then 3 months. One could make the first comparisons then, and decide how much further effort to make.

Sure, as a whole, FF is a "trader sharing platform", but your posts should be relevant to the specific thread topic!

Your profile says you trade Gold. Fine. Most of your posts are to Gold threads, or even to other trading method threads. No problem.

But your Gold charts have no business being shared on these two threads that I happen to follow:

As for me personally, if you post a chart in a trading thread, great; if you have channels, trendlines, pitchforks, S/R zones, hell I might even comment I like your setup, and post my own chart.

But in an obviously non-trading thread (no matter what folder the thread is in), then it's spam. It's rude and unwelcome, not just to me, but plenty of others.

The three posts I've circled below (not including your last post to this thread) are all spam.
