Since i only have the Asian session in my zone, I'm not able to follow flow so well. But however I am adopting your 2 week trend system to the daily charts. Since no one knows where price is going away it does make sense. Of course still testing and I'm using the 50 ma. These long trend on eu and au would have been nice with your system.

thx

@60minuteman

Is this approach (Line in the sand) to trading making a profit to date - or still in the experimental phase?

Hey Turnip... I constantly tests profitable. I had 2 losing weeks when I tried to remove the line (greedy, showing off) as soon as I went back to the ruleset laid out on this thread then I went straight back to a 7% winning week.... Simple to test also, which you should do if you are interested in the strategy.....

I am in Thailand for a while now so Im trading a h4 version - the explorer is on my profile...essentially the same but im stacking entries going for some whopping trend moves (other than that, same concept - 1. simple trend identifier, 2. breakout entry, 3. wider initial stops)

current short stack on SP500 - worth about 650 net+

closed out over 400 on EA shrt last week..

Trading GOLD,SP500, GBP/JPY, EUR/AUS

JUST USING THE MA AS THE LINE IN THE SAND AND ONLY APPLYING STOPS AFTER THE NEXT POSITION IS TAKEN - SIMPLE BUT EFFECTIVE

Eternal has also been able to develop a very successful EA using these ideas combined with some defined exits - so there's much scope to take the core ideas and then develop your own specific system too

Sir 60

Have enjoyed your flow vids. Since my start time is NYO, and the NY session does not usually have the benefit of the "trend-of-the-day" beginning in London (and sometimes in Frankfurt), I intend to trade this using 50 sma for the line in the sand, and with recent swing hi/lo as s/l.

Now it's time to go look up paretos =)

Hi Cali... good plan, make it fit for you.... I am travelling so not trading the H1, but quick scan it performed very well this week...

I have been stacking orders on H4 using the 50sma... also working a dream

The core of this is all we need:

1.simple trend identifier(line in sand/MA etc)
2.breakout entry
3. wide initial stop

Hey H4,

you know it's all pretty much the same stuff, finding what you like and sticking at it, believing in it is as important as anything really.... What I would say though is it is important to either use a wide initial stop loss or if you want to use a tight stop loss then make sure you let your winners run. Tight stops will increase loss rate dramatically and that is easily remedied if you hold for bigger wins...

Yes believing but that only results from well grounded premise, when you are in the plus column regularly then you make the trade when it sets up without any trepidation, but until then you are still sweating trades. Since you started this thread I've added twice to my lot size hoping to compound, its a new day for my trading with a purely mechanical approach.
As for stop losses, I use the same for the stop as I do for the target but I let one contract run at the start of the day, once a week on the es you will catch a low/high at the beginning of trading (pays for commissions), thinking the market is going to give up 100's of pips is wishful thinking and to think that you might catch it is crazy thinking. My advice, increase your lot size and try to steal/nab/pinch a few pips from the pros and get out quick.
60, I began with your long above the line in the sand and short below and then incorporated the 50 ema to start to minimize the number of trades I make, then I realized how much sense that made and how my biggest shortcoming was overtrading (oh, other than trying to catch a knife on fast trending days), eventually my set of rules got quite complicated deciding what made sense when I attempted to limit my trading and what didn't, bearing in mind the peculiarities of the instrument. Its morphed into a completely unintelligible chart unless you have the rules (missing unique set ups still occurs but less frequently, every day throws up new questions to be answered), emotions only take over when I miss a set up or don't get filled.
Good to see you back 60, the mental and physical advice, if the rules don't fit then no trade, if the rules don't fit its usually fuzzy thinking, if its fuzzy thinking then sling some dumbbells around or walk the dog, step away often......which video said you can only hope to make a couple of good trades before the market gets a hold of your head?....true. cheers.
