i disagree with that point of view above.
imagine you want to be a pilot, pianist, sportsstar or surgeon. you need to have learing years in front of you, teached by others, experienced professions.
they will tell you all the "secrets" and you train your brain for years...
even if the best pianist or pilot in the world will tell you "how he is doing it", you will fail if you have not the discipline, commitment, some talent and stamina.
this is also true for the trading profession.
there is no secret out there...only that 99% of the people fail in the longterm because they are not respecting this fact!

I know you don't want to discuss your trading method, but - one question, if I may: do you use fixed Risk/Reward ratio (1:1; 1:2, etc.) or floating TP?

Also, I wish both Tims (TimTheTrader and Tim_isoara), Bull.bear and others who take the challenge to successfully achieve their targets!

Don't be hoodwinked that the market will obey ur risk reward or ur own definition of the market all. We take whatever the market will give us. It depends on ur understanding of the market. I am a scalper or daytrader, and grab within daily range. Those who preach risk reward either do not actually trade or their holding period is longer. That's all I am going to say. Spend some time observing the market in the 1 min tf and u will start to feel the flow. I will stop here as this is Tim's thread.
ps: refer to those forumers whom I had subscribed and u will find certain commonality. U will find success. Don't spend ur time in the trading systems forum as they are mostly bs and snake oil. Most are pieces of art with fanciful charts which do not translate to success, like sonic****, james*****. Lol.

I am a scalper too and have already spent enough time on m1 ))
What was and still is curious for me is how to encode into EA this discretional thing (to "take whatever it gives"). This is, maybe, the hardest part (for me). When we trade manually - it's an absolutely different story.
That's why I asked.

Hi Tim,

So you only lost 5.3% on the day. My opinion: you're not risking enough!! You can't be winning all the time. Like Seykota says about breathing: you gotta breath out to breath in. Same with trading: you gotta lose to make. Take a look at Buffett. Now he's supposed to be the investment god, and yet he drew down more than 50% in 1998, and more recently in the 2000s.

You gotta keep the long term perspective, not the short term fluctuations in mind.

I mean, honestly, you make like 60% in a month, and then cry about losing 5%? What are you, nuts? Balls to all this, you're doing phenomenally well, go out double your risk, stick to your guns and make the money back.

It takes me a long time to translate into an ea. It can be done as this is what I am doing. I am a mechanical trader and follow the rules. If my rules are broken, it means the market is becoming random and it's time to get out fast. It's difficult to explain and it is not my intention to explain. Actually, discretionary traders are following some rules. Just that they can't explain it in simple terms.

Hi guys, I didnt even realize my trade explorer was private! For my side, I can view everything, I was trying to keep something specific private but I guess its making the explore as a whole private. I'm never ashamed of my results, lol. How can I be when I have doubled my account!

I think the trade explorer could have more options on what to keep private like myfxbook

In addition, I am not qualified to teach anyone and I have no desire to start a new thread either. Cos I have seen how many had suffered with the naysayers and even well-wishers, as the OP will lose track of his initial priority - which is to make money. Instead, the OP expended his energy to maintain the thread with chart explanations of his 'edge', and it affected his trading adversely. I have no intention or the energy for such matter. I would rather be a lurker and join the fun once a while, as my ea will take over my trades . And my occasional manual trades when I see a great setup.
