For those who don't understand: banks can no longer use greek bonds as collateral. In other words, these bonds are useless.

Any bank with them just saw their greek bonds turn to zip. Zero. nada.

We'll probably get somewhere back to normal in between NY session and Tokyo session. We might have new trends / current trends gone though.

Not necessarily. I successfully trade an account that has high spread volatility (up to 8.3 pips at several points). I still made money, and my bank account reflects that. It's a matter of managing the broker's pros and cons. Mine gave me high leverage, so overall my positions weren't really affected (my trade size is above normal, but my leverage is even higher, so I technically trade with "less risk" given my success rate in trades).

This one barely rated a 4 pip spread, which is considered a bit above normal but not uncommon in my broker.

Naw. This makes a lot of sense actually (in a general roundabout way). When you have a national fear of any Western financial institution on a national level, western pairs tend to fall and gold goes up.

You can tell the pattern after the first few dozen pip movement, and you can tell the general direction. You can even trade them provided you can tell the direction fast enough and have good margins in case things go sour. I missed out, though, and I just cut my losses on the gbp/jpy. Still better than closing it now, even after the dust cleared up.

Now the spread on NZDUSD is 270 pips which is 27pips.

This is where the regulators must put restrictions either on liquidity providers or brokers, like the same way any product price is restricted to certain maximum.

Tell me,how can one trade profitably with this kind of spread widening during news events.

The only people who make money trading news release with this spread widening tactics are the big guys with deep pockets.

It is very hard and they are making extremely difficult for Retail Trader to trade news releases.

These news releases, good or bad, bring some important information and volatility; as a retail trader, I also want to take advantage of this.

I have the impression this is done on purpose to confuse readers, because if you go deep into what these folks are writing you will find it makes perfect sense only the delivery is wanting.

some monster use over optimistic media about greece debt talk, make euro up, kill retail traders, and down again. supported by technically euro oversold mode.

next week i bet greece topic still on market.
personally i don't like this kind of funda, because control are in bad banker. and for sure they not send email when they planning to send virus to market over newspaper or stupid website

my suggestion, don't confused to news which is not come from officially authority website.
but don't against it, or follow it

i think more than 90% forexfactory news feed is came from unknown website, blog, broker website, twitter, brain washer media, banker analyz, and so on.
make simple 2 option, buy or sell... become so many option
make dicipline become undicipline
make netral brain, become biased brain.

so... if you only depending to forexfactory to read 90% fake news and idea, it's time to looking for others website which is more reallible.
yes.. all forex related website all almost same,, but i think forexfactory news feed is over contaminated

Good time for central banks to do some late SL hunting I guess, it doesn't sound bad to me but I'm not an expert so I don't see why this news would lead to sell the euro.

If I took on $422 Billion of someone's debt, even though they will pay me... my credit rating would drop if I take on the debt...and the borrower would have relief.

The Euro is in deep do doo because their international status with unemployment is the worst compared to England, US, Etc.

So now, they have more debt to carry... so this does not benefit euro on cent.

Euro now carries this debt. Yen and US Dollar should rise in response.

Also... Euro post this news exactly at the peak of EOD US equities rally 3:39?

Looks like manipulation to hurt US and pull the plug on rally...something Russia would approve.

This is definetly euro negative. On a longer-medium term or shorter-longer term outlook.

Not uncommon for a big bounce to occur even after more severe bad news comes out.

Whether it's priced in at current oversold levels is beyond me.
The move is limited in either direction. The way I would trade this news would be to sell volatility with options. My only access to that is with a euro etf but I'll pass.

I'm staying out. I don't play with anything I dont understand enough to feel comfortable.
If your still learning stay away from euro/usd for now

Ignore this. There are better trades coming in GBP AUD JPY NZD sooner than EUR or USD
