Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in December suggests that economic activity has been expanding at a solid pace. Labor market conditions have improved further, with strong job gains and a lower unemployment rate. On balance, a range of labor market indicators suggests that underutilization of labor resources continues to diminish. Household spending is rising moderately; recent declines in energy prices have boosted household purchasing power. Right now, don't bother longing the usd/jpy for intraday standards. News is as expected, and western yen pairs (gbp/jpy, usd/jpy) are showing bearish signs.

At the very least, if you really want to go long, just wait for a bit.

No rate hike right now (expected and proven) = no fundamental reason to have a jump in the usd/jpy

I would advise intraday traders to be careful, because this sentiment applies only down the weeks & months . We've shown bearish channels (and invalidated ascending triangles for the geppy) for intraday standards.

In other words, the FOMC was really the key stimulus today to revert it back to bullish formations-unfortunately, practically ALL of the FOMC news (state of economy, interest rate, etc.) were expected. This means that we're likely in for more corrections down the line.

Ultimately in the long run, yes- fx-trader77 is CORRECT. The usd/jpy will reach 120 within the next few weeks/months. But right now? We seem to be in a corrective phase that is NOT invalidated by the usd/jpy.

To put it simply: go long if you want to, but have you better have good margins to cover your ass. Unfortunately, since most traders go all in on their trades, this is not likely.

not only increase, information or statement about increase is already good information, even indication of FED. When FED increases rates it might already have priced in dollar.

The Yen just keeps getting stronger and stronger against all currencies. It seems to me that this trend is not sustainable by Japan, either because of Abenomic policy or the inevitable problems of an expensive Yen.

How can the Yen be considered a safe haven when the ruling government has shown in the past that they can, and will, make substantial changes in monetary policy without much warning.

A rubber band can only stretch so far before it snaps.

my suggestion... don;t to much depend on FOMC, rate hike,

next week, we have nfp, and soon or later, market focus will turn back to greece.

hugs JPY is best way,,, perhaps until 25 february

since BOJ no action, and since SNB unsure again.
JPY keep strong because external condition,, simply investor run to JPY, that's why strong

Yes that i say, i not undestand what a similar statment is supportive for dollar, maybe supportive for a weak dollar. if they no act and the inflation stay well below the target, i not see any hike in future.

Major company have been hurt in profit by a strong dollar thst's mean reduction in dividend in makor big company, that's is not very good for shareholder, it's only my personal opinion logic, but the fed will stay in this stance if not want to throw US economy (big economy) in another ruond of depression with stock crash.

basically USD supportive, FED's medium term expectation is inflation will hit 2%. So I would say more hawkish statement than expected

USA produce only his DOLLAR, thats the main product of USA.
Strong dollar is good for the World, cuz can erase deflation and by the way the inflation will be on the right way everywhere on the planet!

They are monitoring inflation, which is gradually falling so no rate hike until oil prices start to rise. Nothing new, no impact.

Probably retrace on EURUSD will continue.(meaning slide)
