For anybody who would like to do forward testing, Amazon Web Services offer a Virtual Private Server which is free for the first year (hosting prices are very reasonable after the first year) and offers very reliable performance and a choice of server hosting sites to enhance trade execution times. This can be very important particularly for news trading where it is imperative that the response time from your server be as fast as possible. The problem with many VPS's is that their servers are not necessarily sited close enough to the server of your broker to give optimum performance.

Here is a guide to setting up the server. At the end of the procedure on the video there is talk of problems downloading the start up file. I personally had no problems downloading and running the start up .rdp file. Just place it on your desktop and you start up the VPS like any other program.

I personally have installed 6 MT4 instances on the AWS VPS platform testing various strategies. The 6 MT4 installations run concurrently and each has 12 charts running independent EA's, that is 72 EA's running concurrently without any problems (make sure you use a different Magic Number for each EA instance). Give each MT4 installation a separate name and directory for example MT4_0, MT4_1, MT4_2, ...). Just remember Demo accounts usually expire after 1 month but you can open a new demo account at any time.

One thing that the video doesn't mention is that you can transfer files to the VPS by simply using copy and paste from your own computer.
For example right click on your MT4 installation file, select copy and then click on the libraries button on your VPS, select an appropriate directory (or simply right click on the VPS desktop) right click and select paste. The VPS must be connected before you select copy or the procedure will not work.

TS is set by the EA.. so whatever the SL is set to .. I believe there is nowhere to put in the trailing step size.

Still EA opens Buy even though the price is below 200 EMA and via verca. I tried to disabling all the stategies and filters and enable one by one BUT no luck. It seems that or i am missing something or it can't be combined. any ideas will be much appreciated.

Good point to show EA in practise with the account.

very nice EA system, i am very impressed so far, i did have to quickly change a few things because the Straddle.set wanted to open 40,000 unit lots right away when i loaded it onto a EUR H1.

One thought for help identifying issues. I am working on it myself as well but can we have which ".set" parameters they using display under the Live TraderGift in upper right corner.

If people are having problems with the EA they can screenshot to this board and the group could help figure out the problem. I am searching through the code today and will see if that output could be loaded onto the screen. example

Thank you for sticking with me Alex. By your persistence, you have raised some very noteworthy issues.

1. Combining strategies . The EA was originally designed to implement a strategy and then use filters to refine the strategy. So the natural flow of the code was satisfy strategy and then check for any filtering required. It soon became apparent that to achieve better value, a number of strategies could be combined optionally with filters as well. Then we had the caveats such as yours - Must be below or above 200 MA. This wasn't meant to be a cross. Just above or below. This leads to point 2.

2. Look back periods. The chances of a STOC Cross occurring simultaneously with a Price/EMA Cross with the pre set look back period of 1 are very slim. We can resolve that very easily as I suggested. Just set the back bars for the EMA Cross out to say 20 instead of 1. The problem with this, is that if there is a Price EMA cross within the last 20 bars, there is every likelihood that the price is close to the MA. If you are using the 200 EMA for example, the price may have passed through the EMA a number of times within the last 20 bars. To resolve this and get the price away from the 200 EMA set the look back periods out to 200. Price could now possibly be further away. but there is now a greater possibility of a number of crosses within 200 bar look back. I have changed the code to select the direction of the last cross as being the operative. Edit: I have now implemented the above and below Long EMA as a separate option. See post #217

3. In your case, the flow of the EA combining strategies and extending look back periods for strategies which are in fact filters makes good sense so I have done a major rewrite of the code so that all strategies can act as filters. Just extend the look back period for strategies meant to act as filters. I had really good results yesterday by combining MACD and STOC. This combination went with the normal flow of the program and it's just in your case we are jumping back to Price/EMA Cross as a filter. The filters worked fine following the strategies originally. However I am correcting that so the order is now worked around.

swimmax - Post 212 made a good suggestion which I will look into - ie. posting on the screen, the relevant parameters that the EA is interpreting. It is very easy to get frustrated when all we have forgotten to do is press the Reset button before delving into a new back testing venture and having no trades because we forgot to disable a previous strategy as we entered a new test.

I encourage all of you to look at Post #206 and take advantage of the free year of VPS and hopefully we can all set aside at least 1 MT4 installation for backtesting and we all use the same demo data which is attached to this thread. By using the VPS for back testing you also free up the time on your own PC.

I am a couple of hours away from the updated EA addressing your problems and within the next couple of days I will address Post #212 and also expand the PDF help file and introduce a new section on how to back test and optimize the EA to untap it's versatility.

I have attached a screenshot of the VPS running 6 instances of MT4 with 12 charts and EA's per instance.

After back testing, I have decided to introduce an extra dimension for Price/EMA Cross strategy.

It has now been renamed Price/EMA Event and the addition is for alternative value of 2 which simply compares the close of the compared bar with the value of the EMA. That is for a Buy as long as the close of the bar is greater than the EMA, the condition is satisfied and the opposite for sell. This specifically addresses a check for the price to be on the correct side of the long term EMA.

Also I have introduced a time frame to be referenced for the RSI values instead of just referencing the chart time frame. There are up to 3 RSI values and their different respective time frames. The default is 0 which is the attached chart timeframe but if changed from 0, the time frame is specified in minutes.

New MQ4, EX4 and PDF help at Post #1. I currently have 6 EA's running on the 7 major currency pairs. I cannot place them all at the thread header but if you click on my profile you will be able to view them all.

To demonstrate the effect of the above, I have included 2 optimization sets, one based on a EMA cross on 15 min chart filtered for long term EMA position and also filtered for RSI cross on the 60 min chart. and the other using triple RSI with 3 different time frames. Change the .txt to .set

Hi. EA is not the way you have to make money. I was beginner like you guys. I have done tremendous work , spent almost 2000 dollars for EA. And was only losing the money.Now one will give any advice or help. That is true !!!!! One day, you will have own strategi. Just keep growing in Market.

Bollinger Bands are not included in the EA.
