Thanks Headfake, sounds interesting, 10,000 hours etc and some natural talent will lead to that kind of market understanding. I have seen people like that too.

There can be several "footprints" and they do not provide any clues concerning the next move.
They indicate that "something" is going on. Usually either "make" or "break"

Hey i`ve transformed the price (removed as much noise as possible without distorting the accuracy of the candles)

Does it look less random than the one shown @ post 28

Can you spot any patterns here, it should be more relevant since i removed all the noise i could, including spikes ,etc.

If not then the patterns are more subtle than your conscious mind can handle and discretionary "price action" trading will will be proven to be a useless BS.

If yes then can you then tell me what pattern you see?

Do you know why price may up or down?

What you call "Noise" is a fundamental part of the price. It sounds very stupid to remove a part of the price in order to spot...some price's patterns. Once you remove noise, you're not watching price anymore.

No because i dont trust my eyes, human eyes can be tricky and create false patterns even when there arent any. Now maybe some people are gifted and could see real patterns which are very subtle, but i`m not one of them.

The many black/blue dots horizontally following eachother represent trends.
If they align vertically too, that means that the trend repeats itself periodically, thus a pattern. Those big black clusters around the edge surely indicate some anomaly there.

See if there is any pattern around those.

Thanks Proximus, correct me if I'm wrong but that data is stating whether price if up or down, I think it's important to know that price is up but in relation to what? If it's up from the open, that's one thing however price being bought above previous buying or selling zones is critical to me in my analysis. No one wants to buy at higher prices (or vice versa) so when they are either forced to or have a strong enough conviction to do so, that's important information. So for me, some up moves hold more information in them than others is all I'm saying.

Under this thread I am going to post what I think is a unique trend bias indicator. Unfortunately I can only run it on the majors because I take intra day data for my inputs from the CME futures contracts main session only. That's just the way I run it. I have a short term version but this is a longer term version which I am going to use to give me my bias. In other words if the box is red I'm a selling using any of the triggers I have in my tool box, if Blue, a buyer. I have played with this before on my journal but over the holiday break I have arrived at the version I think is most robust. Yes the box redraws as the chart develops but the colour doesn't "redraw" and that's all that is important.

Posted below is the current. The Yen and Gold readings are changing rapidly and may in the next few days change colour but for now, these are how they are.

I call it Capflow because I am measuring the net intra day buying and selling activity and defining whether such activity is forced or expected. The resulting net reading for the day is then averaged over a propriatary number of days and averaged hence giving me a colour, red or blue.

The secret footprint in the USD/JPY has turned to net selling in the longer timeframe, hence the change today to the red box.
Gold red box is finished, as is the Kiwi and Aussie and Euro. It's a few days too early to paint them blue (buy) but I do expect that over the next day or two.

Confidently take sell triggers in USD/JPY, Aussie and Euro, be patient unless a buy trigger which can't be ignored presents itself.

I count the intra day activity on IMM futures main session only. There are 6 types of buying and six of selling. The mix of these gives me a net number for the day. I run a spreadsheet of the average of a set number of days which gives me a positive or negative number. (neg = selling = Red box, positive = buying = blue box)

As of last night XAU/USD is now Blue, net short and longer term buying has out-weighed selling. Take Buy triggers only.
USD/JPY already net selling.
Euro, Aussie and Kiwi turning fast from selling to buying. Hasn't changed yet but very tempting to pre-empt...

Yup Kiwi and Aussie too tempting. Short market plus lovely 50% retracement and Capflow is swinging around fast from sell to buy... oh and a nice 4 hrly inside bar too...
Get long, stops under recent lows....

Excellent post unabletrader! "Noise" is actually the base of everything and still ignored by the vast majority.

Is not the H1 or D1 charts that are the fundamentals of price is tick. Closest to that is M1 charts. Of course there is not problem in trading H1 charts but stating that M1 or tick is noise is very wrong.

The thread title caught my eye as believing someone posted something interesting in here but I see the contrary. Most posts are very far away from anything closely related to market footprints - just my opinion.

Yes pinktrade, you appear very sure of what you know, and you're right there's probably nothing you can learn here.
Apologies for getting your expectations up with the thread title.

The secret footprint of the market left an imprint on my drawdown last night. Always happens when I pre-empt a signal change... Aussie stops survived, Kiwi ones didn't.

Thankfully USD/JPY did some work to the downside and I'm expecting more to come. Also the Blue XAU/USD signal change from Monday looks well on it's way for now.

One decent buying day in NY session will turn the comdols Capflow to Blue (buy)

Increase the timeframe of candlestick chart and noise is removed respectively .
But what is considered noise at higher timeframes may be valuable and potentially benefited swings on lower timeframes..so you're right.

Hyperion, I apologize if my post seemed rude to you or the others. I never meant for that. Your thread title is an excellent subject, that is why I said "it caught my attention". I already learnt during my years what it really means to trade I was just trying to point a direction. You are looking for the right thing but in wrong direction. I will refrain from posting. No need to apologise, I'm a prickly individual sometimes and it sounds like I mis-read your tone. I am only posting in this thread to try and bounce a different idea around. I don't want to hear about the same stuff that's elsewhere in FF. Just as it's the silence or gaps within music that helps tell the story, I think what the market doesn't do is as important as what it actually does. I want to try and read the hidden signals... ramble ramble....

Somewhere, there is a free 3 chapter courses out of 12 that defined "footprint" in the market. I'm a member of the VTR group.

Mark Perry, the owner, has developed a different way at the charts and defined zones of interest. Then the goal is to wait for price to revisit the area and wait for a trade setup bar or bars to send orders.

I will be honest, my main problem is not with the system, but with my own mindset approach to the market. Working on mindset should be a part of a new trader learning effort.
