I'm interested to hear how many large lot traders exist here in FF; say trading north of 100 lots per trade.

I've been trading at 500 lots for most of the last 2 years; trading up from a $200 account I did not blow up some years ago. And I've recently learned that one of my students has traded up from his $200 account to more than $300,000 now; a solid result in 11 months. He's taken out $200,000, and continues with $100,000 at 100 lots per trade.

I do NOT truck with ideas of 2% account risk per trade. Such conventional wisdom will NEVER make a person rich. I also do NOT entertain stop losses; and hedge my trades at -11 pips underwater. So obviously I am not American.

But who else here trades large lots?

hi dancingphil

i am not that good at the moment to deal with large lotes...but i think that you could teach us a lot....
i followed many of your replies in other threads.
I basically understand that you countertrade with heavy lots for a few pips , and you make a lot of money with it...

so i am very curios about
- when to enter ( you said you know exactly when to do it , and i bet you are right )
- what do you do after you hedge your losing trade 11 pips underwater.

I don't trade as small as 2% per trade either, but $100,000 trading 100 standard lots per trade just seems suicidal to me. Unless you have a very high percentage approach that is.

In other words, what I'm trying to say is are you accepting new students?

You say you only teach people you like and respect (and pay you). Do people you like and respect have to forego seeing a trade explorer showing actual trades?

I wonder how your emotional take it after 2 years.
Do you trade like robot with nothing to lose? Do you believe luck, skill or both until you become like this?

Fifteen minutes after I started this thread, Dave one of my students said to me on Skype "you going to play with the trolls Phil".

Interesting, only 2 trolls turned up (so far).

This thread IS about seeking other like-minded large lot traders, and perhaps they will not reveal themselves. Why would they? There are trolls all over FF to make it not worth their while.

In the mean time;

@ Tarrini65; my trading system is particularly accurate with entries, and so I find myself in a hedge about 1 in every 30 trades. I get out of that occasional hedge by releasing the profitable side of it at the moment of my next trade entry signal.

@ ericnyamu; I walk 2-4 hours each day, more recently carrying 10 kgs of water bottles in a backpack, 1 kg leg weights strapped to my ankles and 4 kg dumb bells I carry in each hand. THAT makes me sweat a lot, even at 4am when I do a lot of my walking. I've been trading for a very long time at 500 lots (so as to desensitize myself about it) that I do NOT sweat my trades.

@ nico1359; I do have a highly accurate trade entry system. I am a Counter Trend trader, and as we all know nothing in Forex travels in a straight line; and shit doesn't just retrace all the time without some method to its madness sometimes. Moritz trading at 100 lots/$100,000 in his account is an admirable achievement. He began that with $200. The $200,000 he has taken out will cover his Asian travel experience for the next 10 years. Moritz is 27 from memory.

@ dennist; yes, hedging is opening an equal but opposite trade to balance the position out. This returns your remaining free margin to your equity. Hedging is done by an EA. Hedge Management is a skill that takes time to learn. Hedging is generally not possible for Americans, but there is a broker that provides hedging and high leverage trading to Americans.

@ Stinky; there are plans in the new year for several of my students to converge on HK when I have moved there, and to study Forex under the one roof. I don't place any value on providing Trade Explorer for tourists and trolls.

@ koi99; when I drop 500 lot trades into the market, on the EUR;USD, during the London session, there is barely a ripple with the weight of my trades. That said, I am not trading Forex to be limited by 500 lots. I do plan much larger positions when the time suits me. After 2 years at 500 lots, my emotions are almost non-existent. That is, I plateaued at this level to eventually get bored with 500 lots.

I'm fairly sure I am now up to date with PMs, and this thread. Feedbag time for me in China now.

Clearly you and Moritz don't trade in the US. Can you tell me where you and Moritz live?
Edit: Ooops I see you are in China. How about Moritz? China, too?

Moritz is German, but has been working in Beijing for a German car manufacturer; his employment contract runs its course and expires in a few days. He'll then spend a month traveling Asia before settling down to more trading. I am sure his and my paths will cross in HK in the new year.

I live in Guangzhou (south east China), and he has lived in Beijing (northern china), though he frequently traveled with his job.

I am as my profile says Australian.

Hello mr. Phil,

We spoked throught e-mail few month ago if you remember and you gave me few good advises (not so much that I would like althought ) and step by step some stuff make sense to me more and more, thank you for that.

I have few questions if you have time and will to answear me:
1.Do you use indicators?
2.You have fixed take profit or you adjust to market?
3.Any particular session time you trade?

P.S Regarding big lot size--still have some mental barrier to do so but working on it step by step!

Thanks in advance,

Highest regards from Croatia

500 lots is rather large for an individual and equals roughly £3000/pip give or take, at 500:1 leverage you would need about £78,500 in the account.
