OK, if shtf I have bullish VIX positions, but if everything remains just peachy, I just entered a SPY put credit spread.
SPY 197/199 Sep19 for $0.63 credit.

Hey, which site do you use for this options table with vol. I checked on marketwatch its shows much less vol.

didn't get it, TLT dropped $119.xx - <$117 Monday, a big move. I will be happy if that can extend for another day or so this week. But bonds been selling off at the beginning of a month, then rising back, for many a month lately, not sure why.

Looks like a relief rally is scheduled for today... RSX +5%... futures point to higher open


About money management
Well... first book I read about option trading was "Keen on the Market" from Andrew Keen... Book is OK, but his money management is really what I remember, his "5 level of confidence", meaning that IF he is more confident in a trade, he will do it with more money - bigger % of account. I traded stocks in the same way, but with only 2 (3) levels, either it is full or 1/2 position, and in rare "obvious" cases I will hit it with more...

Note to myself - So I should really do that in option trading also. For example - YHOO... which was obvious trade, and I had everything on my side: very high IV rank, technical breakout from a range, big expectations from BABA IPO... just SELL put spreads, or puts, BUT double or triple the usual size.

TLT dipped <$116.40 and I bought back 9/20 $121 calls for $0.14, sold em for $0.28 last week....TLT looks like it may bounce off its bottom channel range, but we'll see. I am still holding 10/18 $122 TLT calls, those are $0.10 down - I could sell them now and break even on the spread, but I will rather sell another call leg to make another diagonal spread.

Stock/bond divergence today, whaddayaknow? If some of the geopoli flames stay cooled and Draghi blows QE fairy dust on the equity markets, we could see some hot legs up in the S&P and other indices, perhaps a stall or reversal in the bond run....

Same here. Good job on TLT.

AAPL rebounded from $100 again. Will it hold? Volume today so far is almost the average daily volume... IF this holds, maybe this is a good idea? Volatility will shrink, IMO.

I think there is a way to look at FF members currently online and then look at their Geographic location. Some brokers offer their services in many countries. I use IB and they seem to offer their services in Malaysia

I am looking for TLT $117.50 or so & I will sell 9/20 $121 calls again. re: Draghi, I'd have to bet he brings no big presents. Expectations are high, baked in they say, but markets will be disappointed. Well, tough titty. Life is full of disappointments.

If the above is true, who wins? UST's. TLT could see $125-$130 in a matter of weeks. Equities slip across the board. The euro bounces but I'm not sure if that will stick. Jackson Hole, doncha know....

I could be wrong though. I'll be disappointed, QE just more crack for the crack whore. Sure, bring more punch...I'll drink it, but I don't have to like it...

lol - thanks.....

I have to say that August was a tough month for me with such low volatility and low premium....I've currently go no open positions and I'm sitting on the side line waiting for Mr Draghi to announce his plans to the world. Also, nfp coming up Friday could provide another opportunity. From what I've read Sept historically is a higher vol month so I'm hoping this comes to fruition....

Hi njr.

Would like to see VIX higher, with the little help of Mr Draghi.
Today I closed that SPY put credit spread for $0.45 that I sold yesterday for $0.63...
Closed YHOO puts for a winner, closed AAPL puts for a loss (what a dumb ass trade)... a loss today overall, thanks to AAPL.
I have only bullish VIX positions left, and some small stuff, leftovers on APPL and YHOO.

Waiting mode

For weekly options trading, opportunity was AAPL long weekly puts, when it retested the $100 level. Once support, now resistance... It was around $100 long enough, for about an hour... Hit the long 100 PUTS, exit when U/L drops to 99... Easier said than done.

Yeah, I recall your VIX trade. Hopefully you see this spike with either Draghi or NFPs. Sounds like the good SPY was offset by the AAPL trade. Yeah, I think you, I and lots of other people are in waiting mode at the moment.....

I've also read some CNBC articles on 50-60% corrections but I can't see this significant % pullback coming anytime soon......some of the 'experts' claim to be able to see black swans....
