How can I reverse the order of MTF display in Signal? Right now, in the top right corner (=1) I see MN-W-... M1 from left to right, and I would like to see it reversed, from right to left.
Apart from moving the indy to a different corner, this is not currently possible. The indy source is available (see post #33) if anybody wishes to change the code.
Since you run the MT4 tips and tricks forum, how can I put two indys in the same window. E.g., I would like to combine the stoch and ATR indys found in MT4 default indicators.
I don't run any forum. I'm not employed by Forex Factory; I am merely a member, just as you are. I posted a list of MT4 tips on the off chance that they might prove helpful to others. People have posted replies, creating a thread. For whatever reason, the FF administrators decided to make the thread a 'sticky' one.
With factory-supplied MT4 indicators, you can drag them into an existing sub-window, to create a window with multiple indys. Or drag them into the main chart, to create a new (separate) window. This applies to indys that are 'sub-window' related, like RSI, Stochastic, ATR etc. Step-by-step info here (http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?p=1825195#post1825195), in the "Attaching indicators to indicators outside of the main price chart" section. NOTE: There may be problems if you try to superimpose an indy whose scaling is completely different in its nature to one that's already in the window, e.g. Stochastic whose values range between 0 and 100, and CCI whose values can potentially range between negative infinity and positive infinity.
With third party developed indicators, it depends on how they have been programmed.
For better or worse, MT4's design philosophy appears to be to provide a primitive, minimalist charting/trading platform, but with a feature-rich programming language that allows trader/programmers to customize it any way that they please (within reason), by developing their own indicators, EAs and scripts.
Also, is there any mq4/exe out there that can give the user the choice of dispalying a given indy(s) into either a separate window, or in the main chart window?
I'm not aware of one. There may be a way of doing it, but it would necessitate programming outside of MQL4. With third party developed indicators, the programmer can control which window they appear in, in the program code.
I have been thinking of your Recent Strength indy vs the StrengthMeter indy (from flotsom.) Your MTF chart display is more rigorous, it seems, but IMHO, flotsom's chart bars are visually appealing too.
So have you considered adding LED bars to your RS indy whereby the user gets to see an MTF/Currency(EUR,USD,GBP,JPY,CHF,CAD,AU D,NZD) matrix showing strength and perhaps a similar matrix showing ROC, with custom specification of periods involved and of Update interval in seconds, much as the recent strength matrix on oanda and actionforex like sites? This LED matrix will actually be more compact and visually appealing than StrengthMeter bars which take up quite some space.
I developed the indicator to suit my own purpose; it is shared in case others find it helpful, on an 'as-is, take-it-or-leave-it, use-at-your-own-risk' basis. There may be other indicators (like flotsom's) that suit other folks' better. I'm a firm believer that profitability depends on the robustness of the underlying concept, and the way in which the concept is interpreted and integrated into a trading methodology, rather than the way in which information is presented.
The .mq4 source code to all free my indicators is now available here (http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=280435), if anybody wishes to modify them.
I have reconsidered my views on currency volatility charting, and now believe that an ATR like indy should suffice for pairs tarding.
The VIX/ IV type std dev based volatility really is for options (which could be leading indicators for the underlying pairs trades); however, implementing such IV calculations is made complex by the fact of OTC options vs ETF based options vs currency futures options. The ETF ICE traded options charting with IV and greeks is available on fxoptions.com site.
I am sorry, but I'm not familiar with this approach to trading, hence I can't really comment.
