Just to let everybody know.....I am still alive and kicking....Right now kicking around this journal.

I am trying to cut back on the amount of work I do and the time that gets sucked up in its endless vortex of insanity. There is always a lot of things going on in our lives and trimming the fat is always an ongoing process for most people. If you are like me you tend to keep adding things till one morning you wake up and realize..."Holy Crap" my life is complicated again. So alas I am trimming again. This may come as a surprise to some but I enjoy writing and posting here. So this is one thing that will be kept in my repertoire of activities but there will be less posting about trading per se. But a lot more about life around trading.

I believe that everything we do affects then effects our trading. Whether it is sleeping in on Saturday morning or skipping breakfast. So unless I get cut off by the powers that be there will be times that a post here has nothing to do with trading and other times maybe a gem of trading truth will be unearthed from the bowels of secrecy. So maybe be patient and stay tuned.

No positions worthwhile this morning..

But Spring has finally sprung.

All the dogs raced outside today to help me move a bunch of 115-120 (54 kg) pound bales. With sunshine clear skies and 70 + degrees (21+ C) outside I can't blame them. The hound in charge of ranch security offered his help as a plea to be with me. His help consisted of supervising and pointing an occasional paw at the next bale to be moved. But even this gave way to sunshine slumber. A true dog day today.

Life has had its twists and turns lately so trading had to get put on hold until things get figured out. Right now things are simplifying and I am starting to feel that little trading itch down in my bones. Getting very close to being able to scratch that itch.

Reading a super book right now. "Pit Bull" by Martin Schwartz. I can't believe this one has made it under my radar for so many years. I love books about traders and their lives as opposed to books on how to trade. This one is super. Brutally honest showing life as a trader and overcoming obstacles. A guy that had to plot his own charts to be a technical analysis trader. All we have to do is push a button. One things for sure, if we drew our own charts we would sure have a personal feel for the market. Martin even traded what we would call a 30 min chart in his head or prices jotted down on paper to plan his entries.

Well off to some other things that need to get completed.

Good to hear life is becoming simple again, I think that's what a lot of us aim for in life. And I don't think I'd be in this business if I had to plot my own charts, this game is difficult enough as it is. Until later, take it easy!

Anyway he points out frequently the importance of our trading matching our personality. If we are an aggressive trader we trade to handle the aggression not so much try to control it. If you are a fearful trader we trade to handle the fear not so much to control it. But it is up to each trader to figure out this part of it. No one can do it for us.

Also remaining always flexible with each position. Longs bad get ready for shorts etc.

Superb patience John. But one comment from me:

You didn't tighten your SL when price bounce strongly, and you manual exit earlier before your TP when price returned. Perhaps you only traded 80-90% or your plan, because you didn't let it hit your TP (which it eventually did). If SL remained, even when price looks like it's going to stop you out, why not let it hit your TP when it looks like it's going to?
