ATR Dashboard indicator

thanks for the indi! it would be nice to change the openinghour, so we could use it with the dibs method.

I found this great Dashboard, but it would be good, that I would be able to adjust "Time zone of data", so It could be used with different brokers with different time zones. I hope somebody could help. I have this indicator for ADR calculation. It works well for all time zones. Thank you for this post !

Does someone else also have problems with the ATRDashboard and the MT4 Build 646 ?

Hey guys, I use this indicator and it works fine on the latest build 670.

Could it be because I installed it months before the 600 builds? I think I downloaded it on my 509, not sure though.

I rebuilt the original file on a 509 build and this works on my 670 build so you should use this....tnx symona

In this chart what is the meaning of atr value 1.5923. Please any one describe it.

It is the current value of your ATR(14).

as we read atr is average true range .in this chart it is daily chart. Last day price move lasst candel 177.577 to 180.320 . So it atr value is 1.5923 then what is it means.

Basically i m serching daily candel leanth and its also when a new day open how much it move up or down

Obviously, ATR xxx is the value of ATR on any given time frame. That is so obvious it is not even worth stating.

I assume what you are really asking is, how does one apply ATR? It's a good question, and I'm not the expert, but I will tell you what I know. I'm actually not a fan of ATR, I don't use it in my trading, because I have found it to be very inaccurate. I would rather look at volume signatures.

But since you asked, here is how I generally use it. Take the ATR value and multiply it by 3. This will give you an approximate range for volatility within a given time frame.

In the example you have provided, 1.5923 * 3 is 4.7769. Then add and subtract this number from the current price, and this will give you an approximate range.

So, for the Daily TF, the range is estimated to be 177.577 +/- 4.7769. This gives you an estimated range of 172.80 to 182.35 for the Daily TF.

However, as I stated above, this range is merely an approximation and I have noticed that there is no consistency or validity to these predictions. Price can do whatever it wants, compounded by the fact that the ATR will vary on each time frame, making it harder still to use these predictions accurately.

That is why I do not use ATR in my trading, but if anyone can prove me wrong, then I would be willing to give it a second look. Also, you do not have to use 3x ATR... but in my opinion it seems that is the most commonly used value and so I would not trust anything else, if I were going to use it at all.

Also I think it is more important to try to catch a move when the ATR is just beginning to increase, not after it has already peaked. Also note that ATR tells you absolutely nothing about the direction.

That is my understanding of it, but you might want to Wiki or Google search it just to confirm what I have said.

Here are the fixed files for the dashboard for anyone interested, it is such a great indi that it was a shame the latest versions were messed up.

This version works well on the latest MT4 built 1010, compiles fine and displays all labels properly, not like the versions posted previously that were hiding some of the labels.

Here is how it looks.
