I am similar, I like it to be 10 pips away from the open, but if it is 8 or 9 pips and the pairs are in sync (i.e if I am looking at GBPJPY and it looks basically insync with EURJPY) and EURJPY has moved faster than GJ then I might take it, its got to be real close to the 10 pip mark though... otherwise I just don't trade the first 00 level either side of the open... has worked well so far

You have to put something for the VisibleSL and TP, a multiple of your actual SL and TP. I use 1.5 or you can use 2.0.

Yes I took the same but also got SL on GJ for -5 net. However, on another demo, the EA and GA went ballistic due to CNY news, so whether that was smart or not, I got 42 pips profit with 2 wins and 2 losses.

Fortunately, I was late to the computer so missed the loss you are talking about.

As for EA/GA, yeah it would have been nice to catch them. But taking trades outside of my plan feels sort of like "what's the point" because they are not really repeatable. Unless of course you can find a way to make them repeatable.

Morning All,

Today's trading might prove to be interesting with all the red news coming up later in the day.

My focus will be to extract 2 trades out of the Asian session and then a bonus trade at the start of the London session.

Yes, repeatable is critical.

I am also seeking for this.

Discipline, rule, this might help me to reach the repeating. But i am still struggling on the way, very hard.

Good idea, my target is also take out two trades from Asian session. If the trades could be completed within 45 minutes after Tokyo session, even better.
Outcome is not important at all, but correct technique is what only matters

trailing stop is great when you have to leave your desk...but as you can see it can cause a nice entry to fizzle out after intial pop...

Once you start adding up all the times the TS has saved you from multiple 10 pip losses then you will be happy you have it setup on your charts.

I know you do miss a number of great trades at times but I think it's more important to have the added insurance of a TS

I like this idea. I've been nervous entering around DO and avoided it, but haven't used any real guidelines (which leads to lax rules/trading). Anecdotally it seems a few people have been caught trading DO and as thread progresses will be interesting to see if it continues to cause probs. Think this might be a rule to add to my list.

Looks like a few green pips have been collected in Asian, well done folks.

Yes FIFO......that also applies to making the daily target before the big news hits.

I generally keep clear of the DO as I like the market to determine direction and then I follow along.......
