Take into consideration if your broker allows you to use custom indicators on the mobile platform. You can run the default indicators, but not custom nor expert advisors.I'm considering obtaining the Nokia Communicator 9500i series, but would rather install MetaTrader - full version. Has anyone done this, is it possible?

Hi,

I use it regularly on my PDA. O2 XDA Atom. It's great to have access to charts wherever I happen to be. The platform is designed for the Pocket PC. I am not sure if there is a version for palm. It is not possible to run the full version, only the mobile version.

The charts are pretty good but are not as customisable as the windows version. It's handy if you want access to charts when not at the computer though. I use GFT also as they enable trading via a PPC PDA.

Metatrader does not allow custom indicators or EAs on mobile version, it doesn't matter who your broker is. You must have a pocket PC, it doesn't work on "smartphones" and I'm pretty sure it does NOT work on Treo, although I put in a question about that on the official metatrader forum.

It doesnt bother me that you can't use custom indicators, as long as there is the 30 basics and the MAs can be set, thats all I use.

Wizard - How is the trade execution? If it is fast and reliable then I am good to go.

I have been drooling over the samsung i730 and bundled EV-DO plans from verizon, $80 a month for unlimited broadband data to a pocket PC. I wanted to get the motorola Q, its so sleek and thin, but alas its not a pocket PC.

Got the samsung i730 pocket pc phone, using metatrader mobile from MIG, demo account for now.

Execution of trades, alerts, everything is perfect and just as fast as internet on my cable.

Perfect syncronization with MT4 on my home computer, on the same account one can have it running on the comp and on the phone, if I open a trade on my phone it pops up instantly on the computer, vice versa.

I confirmed that EAs and custom indicators are not possible on this version, but my trading system doesnt use any. Currently up 50 pips in the last 2 days of light trading all from the phone.

Thanks for the update! I am very tempted to get a PocketPC phone as well, but I need to start pulling in more $$ every month to cover the costs I'm tempted to switch to Cingular to get the 8125. I wish it would work with Verizon! Please let us know if anything changes

No problem, I will report my experiences on here regularly. Maybe they should make a new sticky just for mobile MT4, but not yet though, i dont think enough people are on it.

I looked at the 8125, its impressive. For me it came down to the fact that most of my friends and all of my family are on verizon, so it made sense to go with them, plus verizon has EV-DO, which is loads faster than EDGE, and then to top it off the sch-i730 was only available through verizon. That phone is sexy and fast.

I private messaged someone else about the battery life on these devices. If you are going have them connected all the time (like me) then you will need a charger at home, at work and in the car. My EXTENDED battery is full at 7 am when i go to work and its about 25% at noon if I don't plug it in at all and don't talk on the phone once. Not just my phone either, they are all like this, and you will get similar results. (Samsung is the only one that gives you an extended battery with the phone at no extra charge, plus the normal battery)If I have the data/internet connection turned off but the phone turned on it would probably go for at least 3 days with no charge. The data service drinks the battery like crazy, but this ability to be mobile is worth the hassle.

This is great information....

I was aware of the lack of custom indicators and EAs on the PPC, but with those sitting on my home PC, I may be just fine.
I run my EAs with manual execution, so they are really like indicators. IF my EA prompts my home PC for a trade (using the EA) will I be able to see that pending order in the PPC?
One possibility is to set up with indicators that have SMS messaging capability.

I have been going back and forth between getting a laptop with a WIFI connection to sit behind my desk at work or using the PPC... the PPC option is looking better and better

This is great news. I've ordered the i-mate K-JAM phone which is a windows mobile phone. Is anyone using it?

The only concern I have is that this phone is not 3G, which means I have to connect with gprs. Will this be suffucient, or will it be too slow?

I've been doing some research on mobile Fx trading. Surprised to see very limited info on the topic

heres some info:

some fx brokers offer WAP trading, this can be done via the brokers own wap portal, this fuction is on all WAP phones and doenst matter if you are running windows mobile or not.

MT mobile is basically MT4 on a windows pda, your broker isnt part of the compatibility picture, just internet connection on a windows pda and MT mobile.

Im curious if anyone uses any Nextel devices to trade wirelessly ? blackberrry ? etc

Yes, you could see the pending order, i checked it. Having used mine for a while now i would say there is no need for a laptop, but its still nice to be on the computer for the morning trading.

WAP is really not the way to go, its basically just a number showing you what the price is at, no charts (that i have found), its really really basic. Not something you would want to trade with unless you absolutely had to. Just invest a little money and get a ppc, convince your wife.

Mobile is doing great, but I have heard some rumblings about MIG giving lots of requotes on real account but not on demo. Not really sure if it is true but if it is i wont give my money to them

I considered to get Microsoft based pda and run MetaTrader on it, but mobile version wont allow customer indicators. Otherwise it works pretty nice. Good graphics, can do zoom in on charts. Go with Cingular or any gsm network, you have more choices for PDAs. Expect to put out at least $500.

Yip, you can draw vertical, horizontal, trend and fib retracement. There is also a hole bunch of indicators. The only draw back is that you can't make your own custom indicators, but I'm sure they'll open the api soon for us.

I use it, and like it. this is not my only trading tool though! I use it only to check on active trades if I can't be in front of my computer.
