(re: DSW) I bought Oct $30 calls @ $0.44 right after earnings and a 25-30% drop in the share price, bought around $23.90. DSW at $27.50 now, calls are $0.85/$1.00, so I am doubled. Not gonna wait around on this or spread, even though I have months on my side, just gimme da money - sold for $0.85...

The thing about these volatility ETFs like UVXY and VXX is that they are going down even if spot VIX is standing still. They are calculated by the difference of front and back month VIX futures. I had VXX bear call spread expired worthless last week, took entire premium, it was 33/35 strikes. and I sold on Friday another one, 31/33 for 0.32 credit for this Friday expiration. In case of some volatility jump, that will close on B/E. Today I was thinking about long calls on IWM but missed the opening, so I am sitting on my hands right now. I will try to give ideas and entrys on time when I can. Sorry for my not-so-good English

Your english is fine. I like your idea about taking credit on VIX-based options call spreads. I'd do the same if I didn't have other irons in the fire.

I have TLT and TBT spreads that need attention this week. I am watching Treasury auctions this week also - 3, 10, and 30 yr on 6/10 thru 6/12 respectively. I need gold to show its hand one way or another, too, as I am in a GLD spread. Otherwise I am spread about 4 times in SSO and 2x on IWM - if the market goes sideways I will make money on those as they are. That's prolly all I will do this week, watch those and reposition, roll up or down, just waiting for the wind to pick up one way or another.....

If I may add a small post...

the way I see it right now, stocks will be going up or consolidating, at least in the medium term (weeks/couple of months), because EU QE is very powerful factor and affects the US too.

I expect some small correction/profit taking in the meantime. Soon. Could be tomorrow, based on the doji candles on SnP and DJ on daily.

Next hurdle for bulls will be the next earnings season in a couple of months. Other reasons for bigger correction could be major geopolitical crisis (this we cannot predict), or, too strong US data (employment, PMI etc etc) in the next couple of months, which will mean tightening might come sooner.

If you read articles, you are right, there are both bulls and bears.. not all of them are impartial. Some of them might have positions/interest in promoting one view or another. Zerohedge, for all their interesting articles, are perma-bears and when I read it too much I had too bearish view which cost me money. It is our job to try and stay objective.

PS: you may want to look into dollar/mexican pesso too, surprise rate cut by mexico recently could be a sustained move for some time.

Thanks for posting, challenger78. re USD/MXN - have you traded it much? Summer/Fall of 2013 was interesting, it seems. I haven't looked, and I will, but I expect the peso correlates pretty well with oil? Or do you know of any (liquid) correlated instruments one might use to hedge spot USD/MXN trades?

Hope you will feel free to post anytime.

3.17 by year end? That would be about $99 on TLT.....$85 on TBT.

10y note auctions Tues, 30y bond on Wednesday. ^TNX is up 9 bps since Friday, finished 2.63% today. I am crystal balling weak long bond results, TLT finishes the week @ $109.xx. I have TLT spreads too numerous to list, but generally still leaning bearish bonds. Been a long wait, fingers crossed.....
