What is monthly average earnings for forex traders?

Maybe the right question should be... How much of an earning should a trader be making in order to consider him/herself successful?
I'd consider myself successful the minute I know I can count on a positive balance at the end of the month... For starters, not going bellow what you invested is a jackpot...

It's probably a better idea to focus on being able to be positive on the month rather than focusing on how much you can make from forex trading.

If you chase the money, it's going to turn around and bite you (and blow your account up). Use smart money management and protect your capital first.

Its really depends, as per my experience it will all depend on your deposit and trading strategy.

Why don't you check the rankings here? Anyway, it's hard to say something on this subject if you take leverage in consideration.

Average earnings mean nothing. When someone says "I made 30%" last week that means absolutely nothing if I don't know how much was risked to get that return.

I don't think you can judge someone's forex trading ability based on their average earnings.

As many have stated in this thread, there are a lot of other factors. How much have your risked to make it? What is your floating P/L? You can easily trick people by only closing the profitable trades, and leaving the losing ones open.

How much money are you trading with? 5% of $100 is nothing. 5% of 10,000 is a lot more.

In short, don't judge the book by it's cover.

I have about 3 years experience in forex. I believe the average profit or % return should not be the most important factor determining success in forex trading, however I believe 20-50 pips a week(80-200 a month) must not be a problem at all provided the trader has a back and forward tested strategy which can produce the result and most importantly emotional decision making skill(if you know what i mean).

Earning money from this market mainly depends on your trading strategy. The more you can make a profitable strategy, the more you can make money from this market.
