I'm in the UK and have just started using binary bets (not sure that these are available elsewhere). They're not suitable for all trades, but for certain circumstances, they mean that you can hold a position without worrying about getting a stop loss hit. I'd love to hear about anyone else using these with success.
Depends on certain trades. If I'm willing to give the trade enough room to move, then I won't set a stop loss. I will however hedge with that trade and maybe close the losers as it goes up or down. But I do ensure I have enough margin for that trade to move a lot. Otherwise I put stops in place. I have learnt the hard way
I'm currently testing a system which does not use stop loss, but the position is always closed at EOD (end of day).
So, you might regard it as a no SL system, but as long as there is a clear, deterministic rule for closing the position (which is not margin call, of course...) it has a stop loss.

as someone said perhaps you dont chose you appropriate sl it is better to put them above the resistence or beyond support level

so far example if you are selling AUD/USD at 1.0250 I would put sl above 1.032 because chances if it breakes this level the pair may go to 1.04 and 1.05 and so on and may never come back for weeks

forex is field of trading not a field of secure investment that losses are normal or sometimes inevitable but

as a begginer ,if you wanna make profit have a proper reward to risk ratio say 3:1 that even if 50% of your positions hit your sl (which is likely) you still end in up with profit in the long run
I traded without stop losses in the beginning as well. But if you're wrong with your predicted price it can take forever till you get to T/P. So I started using S/L's and still have money to trade at the end of the day.

I started a trading account with $300 and lost $246 in matter of days just b/c of S/L. It might be possible to quit using stop losses when you're more seasoned but as a rookie I'm sticking with them for now.

I had the similar experience earlier. Didn't care about SL. Learned a good lesson and use SL for every trade now.
I learned the hard way to never trade without an exit strategy. Trading without a stop loss is trading without defining your risk.

I will not advice a newbie to trade without stop loss since the chart is new to him.Trading without stop loss is better for business gurus not for newbies. The stop loss closes your trading when you are losing or when the business is going against you. Any trader that want to trade without using stop-loss is taking a high risk.
Always have a stop loss, but not necessary to put it up in your MT4, use a hidden stop loss EA instead.

Without stop-loss you can only have transient sucess. Sooner or later you will go broke. Then consider it a healthy habit.
If I'm awake and watching the trade like a hawk, I can go without it.

If I'm asleep, definitely stop loss

Exactly, it makes perfect sense to use SL and TP, but to just trade without SL is just plain nuts. Of course, a few experienced traders do opt to trade without SL but they have years of trading experience..
Hi Joldas,
it is all down to your discipline and how much time you have to look at the markets. Be weary at times a stoploss can save you a lot of money, as emotions easily get in the way of trading.

The point of a stop loss is to limit your loss by closing the trade just as the market moves in the opposite direction. You can opt for a stop loss or a trailing stop, but just make sure you use one.
